I am relocating to Europe with three dogs and I dont want to fly there...any help? |
I have looked into this and cant find anything out there! Additional Details I am moving from the U.S. To the Netherlands. I wont put the pugs in cargo..and they SERIOUSLY hate flying (I moved them from San Francisco) The problem is that cruise ships arent an option...I figured there has to be a means for people to get to Europe aside from flying or a cruise...well at least I wwas hoping! |

If you have the money then go for the Queen Mary BUT where are you relocating from? It may be less traumatizing to fly. I mean from the east coast to most western european countries it's a 7-8hr direct flight. 7-8hrs is nothing compared to a couple of days of travel. IF you do decide to fly choose a route that's direct as possible (less chance for your animals to be lost). Also you cannot sedate your animals but you can give them stuff to take the edge off... small dosage of benedryl or an herbal ease product will do the trick (http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/Only_Natural_Pet_Herbal_Ease_p/999098.1.htm)
Good luck! |

Besides a boat the only way to get there is to fly. |

How about the Queen Mary: http://www.pettravel.com/passports_cruise_ships.cfm
Note: although they have larger kennels, there are still some size restrictions.
http://www.pettravel.com/ lists other options, but by the look of things you're options are private yacht or the QM. I do wonder though: I have a friend who buys horses in the US and they are shipped over, obviously! - so this must be possible for dogs too. However, she can't accompany the horses so I assume you'll have to leave your dogs too. Perhaps you should check with a kennel that sells dogs to European customers. |

How else do you expect to get to Europe? Swim? |

You might be able to go by ship. There is a 6 month quarantine on dogs. You'd better check that out. |

Flying is the best unless you rent/hire a private yacht to sail you to your destination. Cunard's transatlantic QE2 allows small dogs in the ship's kennels (dogs are not allowed in the cabin). The dog must be fairly small as the kennels are only 33"x33"x29". The kennel has visiting hours three times per day. Also be aware that if you sail into England on the QE2, your dog will have to go into quarantine for six months. |

If you're in North (or South) America, start swimming, because that's the only other way. |

Have you looked into the cargo ships. Some do take passengers.
My suggestion would be to fly. If you don't want to put the pups in the cargo area, look for a charter flight or possibly a combi that is going to Europe. Don't worry about landing in the Netherlands, take any location! You can always travel by land after you jump the pond.
Good news... The Netherlands is VERY dog friendly! |

Try the cruise ships and find one that's pet friendly. Be prepared to pay. |
