I can not make up my mind whether I want to go to Germany, France, Italy, or Slovakia?

I have ancestry in all those countries and I wish to visit one of them. How can I make up my mind which one to visit? Its so hard to make the decision.

My first choice is Italy. Reasonably priced to get to and stay in. Warm climate as you head south. Nice people (although can get excitable).
Second choice is Slovakia but as it's not really on the tourist map, it's not cheap to get to - it's cheaper to fly to Vienna and cross the border into Slovakia. Bratislava is a brilliant place to visit if you're in the old town. Can get depressing if you're in a suburb/town/city oustide Bratislava old town.

If money is of concern you have listed them in the order of expensiveness a buck will get you 3 times as far in Slovakia as Germany. Off hand I would maybe pick Italy, though Slovakia would probably be most interesting being the least like USA.

go to all of them./

You should start with Italy and then make a comparison as you have the chance to visit the others.

Going around with a train is a good idea as you could have a cheap and flexible ticket/pass.

Check out this page and compare the different options:

Click the "Find all your EUROPEAN RAILWAYPASSES and Tickets here" link.

Have a nice trip, whichever country you choose!

It depends what cities you have in mind. I do not recommend to visit all of them at once. You get the flavor of a city/country when you spend some time surround by ordinary people and doing ordinary things their way. To go and see the Eiffel Tower only it's not a good way to know France, for example. Germany, according to me, it's a perfect country but black and white: clean, straight, sharp. Italy, it's not so "perfect" but it's very colorful and warm people. Paris is a big city with all its related issues: traffic, costs, etc. Wherever you go, enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!! Every country has a surprise and it will change you forever!!!!!!!!!!!!

if i were you i'd go to all of them because they're relatively close, except slovakia is a little out of the way. I dont think ancestry matters because everyone is a little bit of something and I'm sure these ancestors are so many generations ago it doesn't even make up 1% of your nationality... this is just about where you want to go and see, and which countries are most interesting

Although I can't make up your mind for you, if I had the choice I would visit Italy. It looks like a very beautiful country and I would love to visit there!

Trace your nearest relatives then go and visit them first. Fit in the others later.

I have been to Italy and to Germany several times on several places. I'm from Slovakia and now i live in Barcelona for 3 years....so yes, you can visit all of then, they are close to each other. From Slovakia to Italy maybe 6 hours by train....and to Germany the same...well, of course it depends where you want to go....
As I'm from Slovakia I will recommend you Slovakia of course :) Forget about the movie! Bratislava is wonderful - the old town and Tatras are just great. It's cheap and you can easily get there by plane. Go to Wiena and then take a train or bus directly to Bratislava - 45 mi nuts!!!!
try to avoid traps for tourists and a bear - 0,5 will cost you only 50 cents.......

Al those country's are lovely and worth visiting but if on a budget I chose Slovakia as is a lot less expensive and a lovely country especially if your coming from the USA as our stupid Bush run administration has badly deflated the US dollar so it very expensive to travel to EURO currency country's at this time but hopefully that will change in the future
also ignore the Hostel post as if moves were real no one would go to Texas due to cannibals (texaschain saw massacre)

I don't know about Germany or Slovakia, but Italy is great and France SUCKS.
