babes

I have heard that the men in turkey are very overbearing, is this true?

I would appreciate answers from women who aren't from Turkey and have been there on their holidays.

The men are no more overbearing then anywhere else in the world. Each person is an individual and they can not be grouped.

I have meet many easy going men here in Turkey including my husband, However I do have friends that have over bearing husbands.

There is no way to generalize them they are all different

I visited Turkey on many holidays over the years and finally decided to move here.
I do not find the men particularly overbearing. At home the wife/mother usually holds sway although a father would also expect respect. At work, status is very important so you may find many overbearing bosses but they are just as likely to be female as male!

I have been there a few times. And this question is too general to answer with a general "all Turkish men are..." Just like any society, I’m sure there are a few. However, I have not found this to be the case. The men I know, or who have met through business, tend to be very nice, but can be protective. They value my opinion and me as a person. But, they will open the door, insist on carrying a heavy bag (even my briefcase/purse on occasion), make sure my accommodations are appropriate, paying for meals, etc. Sometimes they strongly insist. This is relaxed somewhat in the states with my mail Turkish friends (I can pick up lunch once in a while, but never in Turkey). As a very independent female, it does take some getting used to when someone you just met wants to carry your bags or insists upon paying for the chi/meals. Sometimes American females see this as overbearing, but its hospitality and being a good host.

That said, in the tourism areas and when I was by myself, they were some men that were aggressive. Politely telling them no was problematic at times, and a few of them would harrass me. But again, this is an extremely small fraction of society and only in the tourism areas.

40 million man are living at Turkey. How can you generalize 40 million only one sentence?

Not always true. İ know a professional Turkish man and he is at the mercy of his wife.

no, they are not difficult to bear. You don't have to bear anything for any longer than you want to regardless of nationality or place. If you find a Turkish man you like, and after a while he gets boring or difficult, then it is over, nothing to endure or bear. But he might not get boring, then you can be happy.

From what i've noticed maybe slightly possesive but i think most men are like that..so not exactly overbearing..well not more than anyone else.
You shouldnt go on stereotypes because they are often incorrect
