I am considering to travel a bit and use hostels instead of hotels. Now I am 35, is that a problem? |
| Hostels are usually aimed at young people. Because of that they are often very cheap, they speak english and have internet access, so I like that. But will they refuse me because I am too old?... |

I want to go somewhere nice and quiet (and warm) to revise for my exams - but where? |
I want to get away from all the distractions of being at home, without being distracted by anything new!
I would need peace and quiet - no screaming kids or loud music/parties in the next room - but I don't have a driving licence so renting a villa with a pool in the middle of nowhere (which would be my preference) isn't an option.
Self-catering would be ideal if it was somewhere with loads of restaurants nearby as I don't want to cook.
I want nice weather and somewhere pleasant to go for a stroll in the morning/evening. I'm only going to need to study for maybe 10 hours out of a day of 16, so the option of some activities/sightseeing would be nice - but not all-day things you have to book in advance. More like a local town or attraction that I could walk to.
Any ideas? It would be for two weeks, in April, and cost is not an issue. I'm in the UK. I've previously been to Cyprus and Majorca (on holiday) - either of those could work, but it's finding the right place to stay. Additional Details Thanks Sensible... that's my fall-back option if I can't find anywhere to go away to. I'd like to get out of town though if I can, since this is two weeks of my annual leave that I'm taking. |

sounds like you are looking for holiday options and not good revising spots
why not try a library.. its quite, they have private revision spots, tons of books if you need further study and access to a computer.
some more modern libraries have eating facilities and toilet access.. so you will never want for anything
or you can go to the park
you will be outside in the refreshing atmosphere, sight see the beauty of nature.. and relax into your revision.
if you go to another country or a part of the UK you have never been before then you will be caught up in the attractions of the town rather than with your head in your studying books... if you are serious about studying then i think its best if you stay at home and study elsewhere |

Centre parcs- the villas are designed to be private and not over looked, they are warm and full of natural light -hire a bike for the weekend to go for energising easy rides and you can go for an early morning /evening swim at no extra cost.Lots of places to eat and supermarket on site for those extra nibbles to keep you going.Happy revising
(CP's have advice on how to get there by public transport and once you are there you don't need a car) |

I stayed in an apartment overlooking the sea at Praia da Rocha, Algarve, Portugal last April which would do you perfectly.
There is a huge variety of restaurants, supermarkets and a lovely beach to walk up and down next to it. Also, nice places to have a cool drink. It’s the perfect place for someone that needs inspiration to write or study.
There is a take-away or eat-in pizzeria in the building as well as a restaurant serving snacks and set meals. No distraction from noise apart from the odd seagull circling near the balcony!
You can walk to Portimão, Alvor or Ferragudo for a change of scenery and to stretch your legs!
No need to drive anywhere! From Faro airport you can get to the building directly and cheaply using a bus shuttle! They’ll take you to the door of the building and collect you from the door on the way back to the airport.
In the morning when you draw the curtains you'll have a fantastic sea-view that we’ll make you feel happy and relaxed, ready for a days study!
Give it serious consideration! |

Well, as you already know Cyprus, why not head here? You could stay in Pernera....just a short bus ride away from Protaras. Perenera has just a short main street with a few bars and restaurants, all within easy walking distance of the hotels. Have a look at The Kama hotel/apartments; www.libraholidays.co.uk. This hotel is right at the end of the main street so is about 200metres walk away from the bars etc. There is a frequent bus service into the main part of Protaras, and also into agia Napa if you feel the need to take a break from studying for a while.
Its starting to warm up nicely here now....around about 20C most days, and getting warmer. |

Puerto Andratx? Sant Elm? (I might be biased though, since I stay in Puerto Andratx every summer). There's a good bus service in that area and there's lots and lots of restaurants, although because of the tourists some of them can be quite pricey. |
