Well, Mykonos is like "Greek Las Vegas". Really wild, cosmopolitan and great nightlife! Don't think you'll have trouble with chavs.

Skiathos and Skopelos are beautiful, quite and have a decent, but not wild nightlife.
If you want to avoid British, you can also try the north aegean- sea islands, like Thassos, Samothraki, Limnos.
For my type of vacation, which is similar to your's, these islands are great. Have a look here: www.nyloo.com.

Paros is a very beautiful island, with wonderful beaches and very good night life with maaaany choices! and wonderful beach bars (the most famous is Punda bar!)
it is a perfect place for family holidays also!
moreover, it is in kyklades islands, near to many of them i.e antiparos, Naksos etc
there are many frequent daily cruises to them
I hope you ll enjoy your holidays, wherever you decide to go!

I go to Greece every year. And AVOID then the following places : Mykonos/Paros/Kos/Cyprus/Skiathos every year these places have problems with 'chav' brits. I have encountered them in all these places and its been very bad.
Try going to Santorini its more of romantic place but great nightlife. Also Rhodes Island.
There is also a coastal area where only the locals really know it well it's called Halkidiki its an hour drive from the city of Thessaloniki and it has a great nightlife and you can move around to different areas everyday. Great beach bars aswell. |

im in the same boat as you, but i think the beaches in Greece are stony not sandy which puts me off a bit, but chavs are definitely to be avoided too! |

Thats a difficult one I'm afraid. They are everywhere. Your best bet is to go to a smaller island...and yet you lose the nightlife somewhat. I'd try Symi. If you fly into Rhodes, which is a big island, you can check out the several different hotspots, for both Greeks and the typical touristy areas. And if you find it chavvy, you can take the 45 minute hydrofoil boat to Symi. They have festivals throughout July, August and September. With a lot of live music. They have a big live-music bousouki club, hundreds of pumping bars, one normal nightclub and then another dancing bar. and one or two other bars that have guest musicians from the island itself.
If you come in July and August you are sure to have a good time, its only at other months perhaps they cant guarantee a pumping nightlife.

Dassia in Corfu is nice,its out of Sidari,which has the night life but Dassia is the quiet end,and its only a 10 min walk to it.you can be away but near if you want to.nice beaches too. |

Not Greek I know, but try Cyprus – North Cyprus, that is! You’ll be knee-deep in chavs in the major resorts in south Cyprus, although the club scene in Ayai Napa is legendary.
North Cyprus’ club scene is centred around the open air beach clubs in the summer, and some of them attract big name DJs. The hotels have decent clubs too, but avoid the casinos, which can get pretty sleazy during the height of the season. For that R&R during the day, Northern Cyprus has great beaches, good food at reasonably prices, great local beer and cool mountains to retreat to if it all gets too darn hot. Adventure sports include paragliding, pro go-karting and brilliant diving, so you won’t get bored!! |
