I've only spent a few days in Istanbul, but I found it an exciting vibrant city.
Lots of great night life, great kebabs which I reckon I could eat every day, very friendly and helpful people.
Traffic gets very congested sometimes, but that's the same in any capital city nowadays. Wait till you see the Grand Bazaar - must be the biggest shopping area in the world. Enough people speak English to make language no problem.
Weather's pretty good, and not too cold in winter. I reckon I could live there happily alone, so with a girlfriend it should be magic.

Absolutely yes you will enjoy it. I am an Italian that lived in Turkey for a few years and truly enjoyed it. There will be some people like Mourtasa2121 and Spartan that come in here and make duragatory, disrespectful comments, I would ignore them. Turkey is a great country and you will enjoy your life there. By the way night life in Istanbul is absolutely magnificent. Try Reina. Amazing club.

Yes as long as she is not pretty and wearing short skirts.Or you have to learn to ignore those idiots who stare like they have never wanked in their lives.
Sorry, but that is one of many reasons I left that beautiful city.

yeah Istanbul is great. some parts can be abit run down but most of it is really modern and there is great history there, also got some wicked clubs and nice restaurants, if you don't like Turkish food there is always McDonald's etc. :)
