I want to move to Spain, what job's can I do if I don't speak Spanish?

Additional Details
Hi, Thanks to those who have responded so far since I forst posted this a few days ago, just in response to a few though, no I am not some pig ignorant sod who is going to move to another country and expect everyone to accommodate me. Of course I would learn the language, if your living out there it would be very hard not to. When I asked the question I was in a, I want to go tommorrow sort of a mood and was wondering what I could do immediately whilst I got myself sorted rather than spending 6 months here trying to learn the language fisrt, the best way to learn is get out there.

Coming to Spain to live can be a great adventure, but its not going to be easy. Work out here for someone who does not speak spanish is mostly bar or restaurant work, dont be put off by it despite what people are saying on here about it. I employ a mixture of english and spanish people to work in my restaurant on the costa del sol and pay 7 Euros an hour. It might not be alot when you work it out in pounds but its enough for some one to live on out here and you also get tips and the can be very good depending on the night you work. most of the time it is summer work only and trying to find a place of work that is offering you an indeffinate contract will be very difficult. but it is not impossible. If you do come out to work in the summer you could be working 11 hour + shifts with only one day off a week if you are lucky. There is another option open to you and that would be to try living in Gibraltar its english speaking and has the same weather as spain and you can come and go from one country to the other easily. Hope this helps you out. Adam

If you want to live in Spain don't you think it would be a good idea to learn at least a bit of the language. You'll get more out of your time there and avoid being one of these sad people who go to live in a different country and just stick with other people from the same place as them and try to turn the area into their own little part of Britain, America or wherever.

Washer, you could work in the American Embassy, english paper, flight attendant (maybe), there are bunches.
Happy Hunting and good luck.

I agree with Trevor...I live in Spain full time and he's right. Menial jobs will be available but that's all, and even then only in the cheap tourists areas Why do you want to go to another country and not speak the language.? Look elsewhere.

you should definitely look up trying to take classes to teach ESL over there. there are a bunch of programs that you can find on the internet to get certified to teach ESL in other countries and they usually only take a few weekends. the only problem would be that they cost Money, but they help with placement and even offer money back guarantees under certain circumstances. you could be a private tutor, work at military bases, or work at ESL schools. check out oxfordseminars

Well most people speak some level of English along the coastal areas but the further inland you go the less English you will hear. If you don't speak any Spanish then you will probably be limited to jobs is bars and the like which pay next to nothing.

There is also of manual work which you can do with no Spanish such as house painting and labouring but again its hard work in hot weather for not a lot of money.

Spanish is a fairly easy language to pick up, you may not become fluent but you should learn enough to get by on, my dads lived there for 5 years in a mainly Spanish area and although I thought he would be the last person on Earth to pick it up he has managed on his own all this time (he's a 55 year old beer swilling builder!) and he speaks it quite well.

Lots of jobs, most people in Spain speak English, also there are lots of English bars, and British migrants.

Not a lot other than work in British owned businesses serving the tourist industry, or menial jobs like washing up or dishing out leaflets for peanuts.

Most people in Spain DON'T speak English - only those working in the tourist industry. If you want to be a long term migrant and live in the country properly, rather than in ex-pat ghettos with a lot of unhappy people, you must learn the language. It's not that difficult.

Or stay in England or instead of Spain move to Australia, the USA or some other English speaking place.

Do you have a college degree? You might be able to get a job teaching English there. Do some research.
