I will have exactly 7 hours in Amsterdam and would like to know what to do after I stop by one coffee shop.?

I will be there for only 7 hours because I have to catch a flight.

I have flown through Schipol, Amsterdam airport numerous times. It is a very quick, inexpensive train ride direct from the airport to downtown and return. Just do a currency exchange at the airport. It is a very good way to kill the time. I have gone downtown sightseeing several times to avoid hanging out in the airport and to get some fresh air. Lots to see.....

If you go for the best stuff in the coffee shop, you're probably not going to be doing much of anything, unbelievable stuff there. But, if you do muster up some energy, take a stroll through the Red Light District even if you're just looking, the Van Gogh Museum would be pretty cool after a trip to a coffee shop, maybe the Heineken Brewery, or just walk or take a boat cruise around, Amsterdam is a beautiful city and so are the women. Have fun.

With traveling to and from the city you'll probably have 4 to 5 hours left. When you get to the train station in Amsterdam ask for the directions to the Red Light District (walking distance from station) and walk around for a while (not just prostitution; great bars and other entertainment, chinatown) until you find a coffeeshop you like and hang there till you need to go back. Don't loose track of time.... strong stuff over there.

1. Prostitutes swinging on swings--you view them thru brothel windows--is really a trip. Look but don't buy. This you do at night. Right downdown where it's quite safe. I don't support prostitution, but the schtick here is a real entertainment.
2. The Reichs museum (or something like that) where you can see humungous Rembrandts, such as "Nightwatch" or "Dr. What'shisface's Anatomy Lesson.".
3. The Van Gogh museum. A beautiful setting for most of everyone's favorite one-eared painter's paintings.
4. The Anne Frank house. A poignant tragedy.
5. A ride on a glass top canal boat, a quick easy way to see a lot of the city..
6. Tour the Heinikin beer factory, and wind it up with a free taste of the homegrown.
7. You can go around the world in 80 days, but I'm not sure you can do Amsterdam in seven hours. Have fun.

The absolutely best thing you can do in Amsterdam is to rent a bike and go for a ride. Don't forget to try their croquets and the Belgium crepes.

You can go and have a Dutch pancake...the things are as big as the plate but they're like crepes. Order them with whipped cream, powdered sugar (a favorite), strawberries, fruits, desserts, and pretty much anything else on them! Delicious.
Take a look at some of the old architecture there. It's beautiful. I visit Amsterdam only once in a blue moon because I live over an hour away.
SO, churches you can visit (The Oude Kerk, Nieuw Kerk) there are tons of places. Walk around, everyone bikes though. The canals are pretty.
Take lots of pictures, whoever you show them to will love them!
Try lots of great Dutch food! If you have time, go to a little village near Amsterdam that's very close - Utrecht, Gouda...
Or just tool around and see whatever in Amsterdam! It's great!

Go to Ouderkerker ann de Amstel. This is a beautiful riverside village just 4km south of Amsterdam. This is too beautiful to miss. There is a Out Bakery, which is a century-old family operated business offering confections made from recipes as old as the bakery.
