I would like to go to a greek island for my summer holiday this year but.....?

I am desperate to avoid the 18-30's holidays and the typical family holidays (it will be just me and my boyfriend).

Can anyone recommend somewhere that isnt widely expensive and is fairly quiet and relaxed?

Thanks!

All the greek islands are wonderful, it is up to you to choose according to what you want.I can give you information about moine, Rhodes. It is very famous for the old town ,and of course for all its monuments,as it is world heritage city...
I suggest oyu also Patmos, and Nisyros in Dodecanese, as well as the island of Hippocrates, Kos...

There are so many beautiful Greek Islands. My personal favourite is Crete. You could try any resort there, and not be disapointed.
I also loved Corfu, try Acharavi, or a beautiful area called Kassiopi.
I also quite like Kardemena, in Kos. That has a lovely nightlife on the sea front, all the bars are lined up and you can feed the fish!
I visited Zante, and wouldnt return really.
Whichever Greek Island you do choose, you will not be dissapointed. The people, food, music, smells, scenery....oh its great!

One of my favourite islands is Symi, you get a ferry from Rhodes,it's just what you want.

Rhodes is, contrary to what you might think, actually quite sophisticated - if you avoid Faliraki of course. Southern Rhodes, and around Lindos.

Kefalonia is nice too - very green, and more upmarket (again, choose your resort) - The film captain Correlli's mandolin was filmed there. There are also some little known resorts on the greek mainland which havent yet been spoiled by mass tourism. Have fun and enjoy!

i'm Greek and would recommend Rhodes, Crete, Zakynthos.

Ive been to a couple of the Greek islands as me and my hubby also like a quiet holiday that's is relaxing ans isn't full of screaming 18-30s we have been to Kefalonia which is truly beautiful and quiet, we have been to Zante twice and stayed at laganas which is quite busy peak season but its not in your face if you don't want it to be and another quiet relaxed suggestion would be Thassos we found this really quiet and no party animals in the least, im sure which ever island you choose you will have a great time as all the Greek islands are fantastic.

I'm Greek and I recommend u Mitilini,Zakinthos,Kerkira and Crete!!Wonderful places and really romantic for u and ur bf!

Try Molivos or Petra on the beautiful Island of Lesbos. Quiet unspoilt town on one of the most beautiful Greek islands.

Try the small Island of Kythira; it perfectly suits your demand. The towns of Avlemonas, Kapsali & Agia Palagia are very charming. You can fly into Kythira via Athens; some Dutch & UK operators are also flying directly to the island.
You can also reach the island by ferry from several South Peloponnese ports and Crete.

Enjoy your holidays.

Thassos is very quiet & relaxed. Most islands have busy resorts and quiet resorts - just read up on them before you book.

Just got back from Kardamena in Kos, It started to get really busy in our second week, but it was really nice. Went with my girlfriend and found it had the right balance between busy night life and quite/romantic bars and restaurants. Loads of nice cocktail bars. Good as well if your not into your R&B/Dance/Cheesey music as there are a few good indie/rock bars and a late night club. Plenty to do night and day. I would suggest going towards the back end of september as it will have quietened down again. Went with Kosmar and stopped at the Cleopatra Hotel (classic) it was excellent. This was the first time we have been to this resort but are already planning our return next year!

Kalymnos is a largely undiscovered haven in the eastern Mediterranean. A one hour ferry ride away from Kos (you will need to fly to Kos) this small island enjoys marvellous hot summer days and warm evening breezes.
Kalymnos allows you to experience an unspoilt Greek island. There are some surprisingly lively tavernas and bars in the main town, Pothia, where life tends to revolve around the sea front.

I have been here twice the most amazing place - check out the olympicholidays site to book through them

Ok, where do I start? I have a young family and wanted to go on a typical family holiday to Rhodes, obviously the opposite to what you want. I asked the travel agent to suggest where. He sent us to Pefkos in Rhodes. This turned out to be the place you describe. Quiet, not too many people, not too expensive. Pefkos is a typical Greek village that has not seen the influx of the British Tourist too much yet. I bet if I was to go back in say 10 years time, it'll be clubbing and partying to all hours, don't think I'll go if it will be like that. But, I certainly suggest it for you!

Mykonos is good fun for any age - if you want to join the partying you can, or there are plenty of other parts of the island to be.
Santorini has spectacular scenery - rim of a volcano so stunning sunsets from the main town. You can walk on the volcano and have good boat trips around the caldera.
Otherwise Naxos is lovely, lots of ruins and nice beaches, as is Lindos on Rhodes, where all the restuarants are on the roof tops.
Have a great time, all the islands are lovely in their own way. - I am off to Lesvos this summer, haven't been there before, so looking forward to it.

Kos has many quiet parts, but the trick is to avoid coming in peak season. Things start to quiet down in September, and the weather if fabulous, not too hot but hot enough!!! If you don;t want the club 18-30 crowd, stay away from kardamena and kos town and head for Kefalos, Tingaki or Psalidi. Check this site out for more info.

In Greece, you are standing at crossroads of cultures, colours and civilisations, you feel the grandeur of history and the warmth of being at the southernmost part of Europe, you discover the evolutionary process of thought, influence and experience.
A country with a uniquely affluent historical past, inhabited by people gazing confidently and optimistically into the future.
Greece is a country of beautiful contradictions, a constant journey in time, from the present to the past and back again.
