Not all coffee shops in Amsterdam sell Marijuana.
You do NOT need a license to buy.
I am not sure.... Amsterdam is in the netherlands I dont know if they have any restrictions on who can visit their country, but I really dont know. Im not sure if your country has any restrictions on going there either, thats something your going to have look into.
You will find quite a few that do not sell Marijuana, but do allow you to smoke marijuana on the premises.
Its funny, in "American Hotels" you will find maps for the red light district, to tell you where to go for... ahem.. Companionship....
However you wont find a map readily available for coffee shops specifically listing Marijuana...
I guess they think Americans are there for... companionship... not the Marijuana.
They would be wrong! |

Just in a certain part of the city. Suppose to be only the citizens are allowed. Depends on the bartender if you get served and you have to ask around which cafe or just stand in front of the doorway to see if fumes have colors. Hash and potent others come from Turkey. And, Amersterdam isn't the only city either. |

illegal import and illegal grow.
That is the strange thing but true.
For you and me to buy in the bars it is not illegal (more like tolerated).
Floris: it is 5 plants/person |

some explanation of the dutch law.
a person is not allowed to be in possession of drugs.
a person who has a small amount of drugs in his possession don't get arrested, the police looks in another direction. (serious!)
growing weed is not allowed. but the coffeshops are allowed to sell drugs, the have a permit from the council and police.
where the have to buy drugs ? simple on the black market, aka illegal circuit thus.
read carefully and enjoy or weep. |

Where am I?

To own a shop and sell weed you need a license. Dutch citizens are legally allowed to grow 5 plants of their own, without getting in trouble.
Most coffee shops have their own suppliers or carry licenses to grow more for retail, which is very strictly controlled.
You can go there, anytime you want, you need to be over 18 to purchase and they will card you if they aren't sure about your age.
You don't need a license to buy a small quantity, only when you want to start a business.
Hope that's help full. |

I believe that you can sit and drink at the local pubs there, whilst eating hash cookies straight off the countertop! Complimentary too!
You can't leave Amsterdam with it though. |

Ok let me repead the question to c if i get it right. U wanna know. From who and how the coffeeshops owners buy there drugs??
That seems a simple question but its also a very GOOD question becaus on that point the dutch law is inconsistend.
By law a person in holland is allowed to posses 5gram of weed. and own 2 plants per household. That would mean that for every 5 grams the coffeeshop owner sells he need to get new weed. And the the one who delivers is not allowed to deilver more than 5 gram at once. So in daily live the cofeeshops do have a stock and get more delivered than 5 grams at once thruw the "backdoor" This is illegal but tolerated by the law. Breeding weed in big ammounts is still illegal and is NOT tolerated. Most coffeshops have several personal adresses wher they get there illegaly breeded drug. The Police does hunt downs these weed houses actively together with energy companys becaus most greenerys Us illegal enegry and cost the company millions of euros.
I hope u understand now alitbit better the complex matter of the dutch drug laws.
P:S: all harddrugs are illegal in holland. |
