It is very beautiful in Turkey and steeped in history. I think what puts people off is its political problems - there has been terrorism in that country for a long, long time especially central Turkey and more recently on the coast targeting tourists. Not exactly an ideal holiday getaway in that respect.

China for example. How many people do you know from the UK, or anywhere else for that matter, that's been to China.?
Who do they class as visitors.?
Turkey is extremely popular on our site that's for certain.

Probably because those lists change every year. In the list, Turkey is at the 11th place. It's not bad at all. Especially if you consider the language (Turkish is not as popular as English, Spanish, German or Italian) AND we don't really see Turkey is Hollywood movies much.

If you consider these factors, being 11th is very impressive I think.

I haven't been to any of those countries you listed, I have just come back from Altinkum (it's in Turkey, in case you didn't know) and I am going to Marmaris in August. and Ill be back to Turkey time next year.

Totally agree with some of the answers, if you consider that turkey is not great, with your question you are making big advertisment of turkey am sure a lot of people would be wondering about this country and will be coming soon to visit us, by the way turkey has several contrastan places that alot of europeans countryes would like to have in just one place... and turks are very hospitalary people... i am not turkish anyhow.

uh.... you might notice it is #11... above Macedonia (not listed - not in the top 50).

#11 is pretty high considering there are approx. 245 countries in the world.

I think Suddenly Skopje and Macedonian Phalanx might be the same person, they are both from Macedonia and one of them always asks an offensive question in Turkey section and then the other answers and accuses him of being Greek. Then one of them posts an offensive question in Greece section and the other calls him Turkish. I think it is pretty obvious what they are trying to do here.

This person is not Greek. However, speaking for myself I should say am not racist to Turkish people. And even if Greece lost this time nothing is over yet. Even if they lose and leave the Euro this will make me no less proud to be Greek because this has nothing to do with the Euro or Eurovision. Do people from Turkiye feel less proud because they have never not won the Euro?

Im actually glad my country isn't on the top 10. Then we won't get even more of those stuck up tourists.. .especially the British and Russians that come here just to have some fun and get laid by turkish guys half their age. How low class can one get? Im not saying that all of you go there to get laid but quite a few of you do.
