Umm.... FYI, the US itself is not only broke but hated by every country in the world INCLUDING those "allies" you mentioned. If the US and Russia got into a war with each other, then both sides would probably have major casualties.

I'm, not saying the US military is weak (it's actually very strong) but getting into a war with any country really is not a good thing for us.

...and in fairness, the after-action reports are showing how hideously unprepared and inept the Red Army was in Georgia (and there's no need at this point to how bad a hit the Russian economy took as a result of this. Let's just say that Putin wishes he could have that decision back).

As exciting as your idea sounds, it's not very likely. It's the little foxes that stand to cause the most trouble now for both countries. By "little foxes," I mean countries that, if bombed back to the Stone Age, would only be set back five years or so.

Russia would win. Dont be fooled, they match everything in terms of technology that the americans have. Also they have a different tactic when it comes to conventional ground warfare. They believe artillery wins wars. So they would sit back, punnell the US with heavy artillery, then role over the top of them. Fact.

Also, the USA is a more civilized and democratic place than Russia. Do you think Putin or Medvedev would care if he lost 10,000 troops as much much as Bush would?No. Let the sleeping Bear sleep is what i say, as every time it has woken it has ended up winning or defeating its invaders.

Yes they have an ageing Navy. However, apart from the Baltic Sea, would the US launch a naval attack up the Bering Strait or through the Artic?? No.

Air strikes. Do you really believe the Russians do not have AA capabilities that would probably shoot down at least 50% of US air strikes?

And last point. Russian Spetznaz are a million times harder than US Marines! These guys live in the snow.

As for the asia thing you know that if those two countries would go to war china would support Russia right. And yes most of Europe would support the U.S. However the point is both countries would resort to nukes very quickly and then there would be no world left. Just a barren land. Once again neither of the countries would be stupid enough to go to war. Maybe you could also go and learn some proper english.

Its a fact USA lost every war in modern history. Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, these are just examples of never ending wars where US keeps loosing not only people, but also tons of money and international effort.

Russia on the other hand victoriously won every war, big or small. Every invader attempting to conquer Russia los big time and never managed to succeed. Russia won the 1st World War, the 2nd World War and the war in Georgia was close to being a show case of how wars should be conducted. Fast, within a week the war was over, innovative use of tactics and political allies â€“ both Abkhazia and Ossetia reacted quickly in tandem with Russia. Even China supported Russia. Use of strategic advantage â€“ hypocritical supporters of Georgian dictator Sakashivili proved to be inept and inadequate, both US and EU showed complete incompetence and political powerless.

The U.S. military is highly overrated. The U.S. cannot win a war against Iraq and Afghanistan and neither of those countries even have an organized military that is fighting back.

Of course, the U.S. would use nuclear weapons in a major war. They have no other choice.
