Italy, Venice to be exact. Everything always seems so beautiful there and there is so much art and culture. I pray I get to see it with my husband one day. |

lf you want an interesting holiday , you wont do better than Britain - a week would not be long enough but it would give you a taste.
if you want sun and relaxation you won't do better than Greece - beautiful countryside and beaches, terrific people, good clean food, lots of entertainment, lots of things to see and places to go, inexpensive, they don't rip you off, easy to get to, weather good [too hot in August however] yes, my choice is Greece - can't go wrong - l've been going there for the last 20 years.... |

Madeira.
Roll on April and I'm off there for 2 weeks.
In case this is a place which you haven't thought of, it won't suit kids and teens. No sandy beaches (unless you catch a ferry at 8.0 a.m. to a local island) and not a lot of high-living night life.
But - for people who just want somewhere peaceful to relax and get geared up after a long Winter, it's just the ticket. |

France is a lot more diverse than you can imagine. It is relatively easy to travel. French people speak English and won't mind helping a respectful person. The closer you get to a border the more the food changes. You can get pate by the kilo and good bread for cheap. Cheese. Cheese. Cheese. Wine. Wine. Wine.
Older French people will love answering questions about America helping in WWll. Did I say wine and cheese. French pizzas are awesome. The Louvre. Paris is safe and beautiful at night but expensive. Axe en Provence is heaven on earth. Jefferson said it could revive the dried up and the dead.
Wonderful cafes everywhere.
From the Juras you can look up up and up at the Alps while you devour hunks of comte cheese and vin jaune. Awesome. |

Andalucia,in south-west Spain. Been back four times.Great kite-surfing at Tarifa(southernmost town in Europe) with miles of beach, mountain backdrop, and mountains visible over the sea in Morocco. Ferry to Morocco takes 35 minutes.Makes a good day trip.Andalucia has lovely people, brill food,Flamenco, architecture, and a welcoming and friendly attitude everywhere.Good transport, which runs on time ,at half what we pay in Britain,so you can visit Granada, Malaga,Marbella,Estapona,Gibraltar,Sevil... Roman ruins at Bolonia(magnificent beach, biggest mobile sand dune in Europe),all quite easy. Loads of accomodation for 20-30 Euro's a night, and lots of backpacker hostels of a high standard.Try Picasso's Corner in Malaga. Brill. |

I'm a Brit, so if you want history definitely try Britain, if you want garaunteed good weather and fantastic food, avoid it like the plague. Accomodation can also be quite pricey.
You could go to Greece and go Island hopping. Food and accomodation is cheap, and the weather is generally pretty good. The Mediterranean is beautiful with great beaches. It can be a little basic though (many hotels, apartments don't have air con) and unless you want to stay up til 5am, make sure you avoid party towns like Falikraki or Ayia Napa (Cyprus).
No offence to the French, but I wouldn't bother with France or it's capital, Paris (very pricey, a little grubby, and Parisians don't have a great reputation for making tourists feel welcome).
Germany's ok, and has a definite atmosphere if you head to Berlin, Munich, Hamburg or some of the more rural towns and villages.
My personal favourite is Spain - I love Barcelona. There's a definite feel of quality in Spain, and the weather is generally very good. There are also great beaches. However, although not phenomenally expensive, it's not as cheap as say Greece or Portugal.
Portugal is quite nice and a little more value for money than Spain. Look up Cascais. Again - good Beaches. This said, I've heard some parts of portugal can be a little hit or miss.
If you want something completely different, try ReykjavÃk (Iceland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Prague (Czech Republic), Dublin (Ireland) or Amsterdam (Holland)
Note - I've not been to Italy, Austria or Switzerland but I hear great things. |

This totally depends on your personality and the things you like to enjoy doing or expect from a foreign country. If you're a crazy party person and don't really care much about the old buildings and roots you wanna spend the time between Amsterdam and Berlin, if you wanna enjoy history Italy is beautiful but more amazingly Budapest is the city of history, beauty and Romance. I've traveled a lot and when i visited Budapest for a week i extended my stay to 7 months. Enjoy your trip and wherever you go send lots of post cards to your friends :) |
