Heading to either France or Italy on the next giant jaunt, myself, so...
Italy: Florence, Rome, Pisa, Venice, and Naples/Pompeii (I seriously can NOT narrow it down to the top five ATTRACTIONS)
France: Paris, Carcassonne, Normandy, Avignon and Bretagne.
(ditto).
If it´s your first trip, and you have to choose five cities:
I would go with London, Paris, Rome, Madrid and probably Vienna.
