To answer your question, not many Turkish families are strict about forcing the Islam religion onto their children. It's more of a growing experience for the child to learn to like their families religion without being forced.
Plus, I know some religious families and they couldn't care less if their children are not devout. It's the child's choice to decide if they want to fully partake in the religion.
