You can visit most european countrys "without a visa" as long as its under three months; but all things considering that stamp they put on your passport is a visa. Check the state dept. website for more details. |

YOu only need a visa if you want to work over here. If you are just coming to visit on holiday then all you need is your passport. |

There are lots of different sorts of visas.
When you visit Europe, you actually are being ranted a visa on arrival, which is presented in the form of a stamp in your passport.
Other sorts of visas are paper documents that are attached to your passport seperately. These serve various purposes, but are usually only required if you intend to work or settle in the country or if you intend to stay longer than your passport stamp would allow.
Stamps are a common way of allowing entry of visitors from countries with which the country you're visiting has normal relations. The process of obtaining a regular visa is too involved to be practical for the thousands of visitors that arrive in Europe every day from America. |

Most European countries don't require one, unless you're going there to work. |

You need a passport to leave the U.S to got to Europe, you get the visa when you get to the country you want to visit at airport or other points of entry to that country, the visa is a stamp placed on your passport, it can be a holiday visa and you will be asked how long your stay will be, if you go over you need a new stamp, there is a transit visa where you need to stay a day or two to travel to somewhere else and there is work visa which allows you to work in that country, this also has a time limit... you need to check on what the country's requirements are the above information does not apply to every country. |

You do need one, unless you somehow have a second citizenship in another European country that you didn't know about. |

Because you are "an alien" in Europe, and if you wanna go back to your country, you need a passport, if you don´t have this passport, they reject you to Guantanamo. Even possible
you need a "alien-visa" |
