A beautiful architectural city, but bad smells in the summer, as the sewage tends to waft up from the underground vents, The Rambelais is great fun, though watch your wallet, as for the Spanish, different dialect and they also speak Catalan in certain parts, plenty see and you'll love the Spanish girls... |

Anything and everything, fantastic nightlife, fantastic food,Football (or should I say soccer ),Just about anything you can think of. You'll find visitors from all parts of europe, and the rest of the world. As for is it a party city ? Party is not a strong enough word. Make shure that when you go out, yo keep enough money in a seperate place for breakfast on the way home. Please also remember that the local language is Catalan, and yes you should get by if you only speak Californian English .One other little peice of advice - Nightclubs are not what you would think they are, look instead for Discotecs.
P.S. You might be supprised at what you get offered if you ask for chocolate. |

fantastic food, not much english spoken, great achitecture, plenty of other tourists. Get a couple of guidebooks from the library for info about the city, and try to learn some Spanish. I Think loney Planet makes a mini Spanish language guide that you should buy--its really worth it--with lots of phrases a young person would use |

You will need some Spanish to get around. There are many foreign tourists, especially from Germany. It is definitely a party city with clubs open to 3 a.m. There is some crime such as pickpocketing so travel in a group with your own friends. Don't be naive. |

i don't believe the Spanish are so good at English like say the Germans are,Barcelona is said to be nice place but be warned there is a lot of thieves about in Spain......yes there are a lot of tourists go to Spain generally from Europe especially UK and Germany......do you know that you can book flights to many parts of Europe from Barcelona "GERONA" airport IE London for as low as $80 to $100 dollars when booked two weeks or more in advance and a flight takes about one and a half hours http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/ although Stanstead airport is about half hour away by train to central London and cost,s £24.00 return fare bought on plane .........Barcelona is also on the coast and there are zillions of Brits there on holidays in summer .....ps..i may be wrong about the Spanish speaking English |

It's a party city, but that depends when you go (not when it's too cold or too hot). Also, it helps if you can make a few friends, such as local students, who will be able to introduce you to people and parties. A total stranger doesn't get invited very often. Barcelona's residents have pretty good English, but learn some survival Spanish. And there are always lots of tourists there - from Britain mainly, then I'd guess Germany, Italy, France... |

When you go to Barcelona, be sure you bring along a soup spoon so when you meet "Manuel" from the "Fawlty Towers" series from 1975 and 1979 you can give him another rap on the head with it like Basil originally did in one of those hilarious episodes which I have watched at least two dozen times. |
