It's not new rules, it's very old rules (if our politicians had been brave and taken the plunge and joined the Schengen Agreement then we wouldn't need a passport to travel within the EU) - yes you do need a passport to travel to any country other than the Republic of Ireland (and even for Ireland, if you're flying then the airlines will want to see a passport or other photographic government-issued ID like a driving licence, even if the two governments aren't interested). |
