I do hope you are not going to do the usual dozy Brit thing about sitting in a coffee shop 24/7 and just getting monged. Go to the Riechsmuseum and feast your eyes on all the ravishing Vermeers they have. Anne Frank Huis to see how a nice young jewish girl nearly got though the Nazi occupation. Vondel Park on a Sunday to see all the street theatre and drama students putting on free entertainment. Get a Time Out guide to A'dam and plan your visit. Of course, if you want to get it wet, by all means go and have a look in some windows down the red light district, wear a frenchie though. There is a big tradition of Indonesian food there, munchie munchie!
As for draw, go to http://home.freeuk.net/coffeeshop/ This will give you an idea as to where to have a nice smoke. Have a nice time.

Mr Trend Vampire

You will love it there.

Sightseeing: Flower market, scenic boat tour, Anne Franke Museum, Van Gogh Museum, shopping, Sex Museum.

Nightlife: Red light district, sex shows, lots of bars and discos.

Coffee shops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful of the bicycles, they are like cars there.

Rich T
Take a look into those "shop windows", and pull a decent looking bird.

showtimehell

Wish i was going been three times this year. You must see the sex shops my b/f wasn't happy about me going but was over the moon with what i came back with from them lol much better than England's. Also an obvious choice the red light area the sex museum great fun and the coffee shops ask for a menu you will be surprised by whats on them. Give the canal boat rides a miss boring is a understatement. All in all Amsterdam is great you are gunna love it.

Martha P
Definitely the Rijksmuseum is a must. Also go the Van Gogh Museum and take a cruise along the canals.

The Dam Square is a place where the youth from all over the world meet. For sure you will find somebody from your own country there. Have fun.

The Van Gogh Museum is fantastic, as is the main State Museum (I forget what it's called) but the State Museum is HUGE - wear comfy shoes and allow plenty of time. Watch out for pickpockets, they are rife in the city. And you don't need to go the the Red Light District to visit a 'Coffee Shop', personally I think the RL District is seedy and naff. The canal cruises were good, and if you have the belly for it the Anne Frank house is very moving. Buy a tram pass when you get there as taxis are extortionate, and the trams run everywhere and often. Have fun!

lillith golightly
cant come with but go to the square next to the van gogh museum to chill on the grass, its lovely

I was there last weekend.........

stick to the coffeeshops for your smokes etc.
Dont buy on the streets you will get ripped off.
foods a bit boring and a little expensive.
Try Lemon Haze its a nice smoke.
Go "window shopping" in the redlight district but avoid "munters corner" ....from 50euros for the pleasure

dont miss your plane home it cost my mate £200 to get home lol

Gone fishin'
Don't forget your lighter.....you'll need it.

punk_fairy
