Well, I have never been to Kusadasi but I am sure there are good markets there as well. It is one of the best known touristic spots in Turkey. You should be able to find almost anything you need there. I wouldn't worry if I were you.
Have a nice holiday and enjoy your stay.
By the way, we are planning to go on a ten day coach tour of the Black Sea coast, starting from Istanbul. We will go in early July. I am looking forward to it.
A note to James:
Don't believe in everything you hear. I was in Ankara this week and walked around the shopping center that was bombed last week. Believe me Ankara is one of the safest capitals in the world. Ask yourself why people go to New York City. Don't they blow up skyscrapers there?

I personaly hated the Kusadasi market place....Nothing really worth buying...The town itself is nothing worth seeing, too...
The arcaelogical sites of Ancient Effesos though, which are nearby are worth visiting!!!

You've got the friday market and the wednesday market in Kusadasi, these are the big ones. On friday they sell vegetables and fruits, and on wednesday everything else; clothing, shoes, bags... You also have the Nazilli pazar on the way to Davutlar, by the paradise beach. As almost everyone speaks English in Kusadasi, you won't have a problem finding them.

I've been to Kusadasi and bought leather. I got a coat for myself and a dear little baby harley biker jacket. Seemed very reasonable to me, There is a Friday market in the city centre but mostly produce I think. You could try this link. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Middle_East/Turkey/Aydin_Ili/Kusadasi-1830634/TravelGuide-Kusadasi.html

Hiya, I went to kusadasi a few years ago and one day a week -think its friday, the whole town turns into a market. Its a nice place and I was mesmerised by the size of the ferries that call in as part of a cruise. Good bar on a corner, locally known as Roxys where the lovely michael does his drag act and smells beautiful. Might not do it now I suppose but he brought the customers in. We ate regularly at a place called jimmys nr to hotel tur. Nothing fancy but good honest grub.
I did prefer marmaris but had a good time in kusadasi all the same and hope you do too.

I went to Kusadasi 20 years ago, and loved it! I suspect it is rather more developed now than it was then, but I do recall there was a good market - loads of high quality fruit and veg, spice stalls etc.
Even 20 years ago the shops were good - they were catering not just for those staying in the town, but also those coming off the cruise ships on the way to Ephesus - which really must not be missed.
Kusadasi was also a good base to go to Didyma, Priene and Miletus, and for a day trip to Samos. We also took an overnight stop in Pamukkale, and also in Aphrodisias.
I haven't been back since and fear tourism may have ruined some of the charm - but Kusadasi was a brilliant introduction to Turkey.

I live in Kuşadası in the summer period... There are couple of markets in Kuşadası. Also shops in the town center. As a market i can recommend you, Firday Market (in the town center, mostly they sell fruits and veggies), Nazilli Halk Pazarı (it's on the Kuşadası-Davutlar road-- nice clothes, shoes and bags), Halk Pazarı (this one is closer to the Kuşadası town center, you pass the bus station it's at the opposit of the road--- clothing, shoes, handbags), also Migros and Tansaş (for food and also simple dressing up stuff) are shops and markets that you can check...There are carpet, dressing, jewellery, leather and bric a brac shops in Kuşadası town center. Don't worry you won't be missing Marmaris..

James
dont they blow up the markets there?
