The important is his nationality or the person? There are so many stories like this..Certainly, we have some differences, but do you think that he is responsible for this?or you?
But bear in mind that this may happen also from your family...So, it is better to be well you both, and for the rest, with your strength you will arrange it...

That happens sometimes...

After all, you are both human beings, you can fall in love despite of the political problems.

you are not the only Turkish woman that has(ok had) a relationship with a Greek/Cypriot man

its not odd or strange any more, maybe in previous years it would but not nowadays

if you are ok with your partner and you can solve all the problems between you, then families just have to accept this

there are many couples of Gr/Tr that are married and live here or in Turkey -

I guess they would feel uncomfortable until they knew you for the sweet girl you are. Knowing each other is a great boost to overcome racial prejudices.

If his family is too-nationalist and a lil bit old-brained, of corz they would be uncomfortable. It's the same for Turkish families too.

It's about personalities, not nationality.

Considering the history between Turkey and Greece, they really may have had a hard time accepting you. It would all depend on how laid-back they were about the whole mess years ago. Some people aren't the type to hold a grudge. Maybe his parents would have accepted you, but you'll likely never know now that things are over between you two.

Zoi ((Ζωή))
I am a greek woman, not at all biased, living in Western Thrace, my favorite pupil in school is pure Turkish (Levent), he is a dear friend. But I think, YES, they would have a problem.
I have such examples in my family (my onkle wanted to marry a turkish girl and he was forced not to do it).
You deserve a big BRAVO, as you go beyond such silly things.

vaggos1944
hey I'm neither one but i heard Turkish girls are pretty i won't mind having one my self!!

cadaunovera
Erm y u think its over?Maybe( PROBABLY(FOR SURE) ) thats the real reason.Who wouldnt have a problem?Turkey still occupies half Cyprus FFS!

@ anlarm : u really think u kno everything dont u!Ive noticed that from other answers aswell.Who do u think u r that u can judge everyone?Y bein a turkish cyp means u kno more!?Haha, plus im Greek Cypriot so i guess i know the answer better

Very difficult considering a lot of Greeks see Turks as 'enemies'. There is also the problem of religion. Turks are Muslims, Greeks are Christians and very religious. It would be like fighting against the whole world to protect such a relationship.
Did you all know that under the 1960 Constitution, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots could not get married? Either one had to denounce his/her ethnicity and religion. Unbelievable, isn't it!

Cadaunovera, I think I know more 'facts' than you do about Cyprus, being a Turkish Cypriot.
cpinatsi, please don't generalize. You say Greek and Greek Cypriot people are very friendly. That's a generalization. I know many Greeks/GCs who are like that. But some are quite the opposite. They cannot even tolerate my answers on this section.

cpinatsi
Greek - and Greek Cypriots, obviously - are warm people who judge people on a personal basis, once they meet them. Sure they may have been uncomfortable with the idea of you being Turkish at first, but once they got to know you, I am sure they would have been very warm and loving to you (if you are a nice person, lol).

it depends on his family's point of view....this is the 21st century after all....but love conquers all!!!!
