In Europe, do they usually mix their ketchup w/ mayonnaise?

I know this doesn't apply to all of Europe, but when I lived in Greece, every time I went to McDonald's, they'd mix both together for their fries. They'd even ask me when I went there if I'd like mayonnaise, because it was so common to do. Do they do that in most of Europe, because I never see people to that here in America.
Additional Details
i know it has had to be done here too, what I mean is that the way they asked me if i wanted some and based on all the people doing that, it was as if it as very popular to do

Actually, the McDonald's "special sauce" is a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise (plus a few other ingredients) and is known in Europe as "fry sauce". Here in the U.S., it's the basis for Thousand Island dressing. I don't particularly care for it on fries, though I love it on burgers, fish sandwiches, and roast beef/pastrami sandwiches.

lol lol
This is a funny question. It's all up to a person. I'm from Europe (Balkan) and I don't do that, but I know a lot of people that do. When I was at Greece a couple of years ago, I went to a fast food restaurant, and ordered gyros, which is traditional Greek meal, and they put everything in it, including both mayonnaise and ketchup, *roll-eyes* Next thing you know, I got a bad stomach ache and stayed in bed for like 2 days, and that almost ruined my vacation. I tried it once with pizza, I put both mayonnaise and ketchup and it tasted real good, but I prefer pizza with ketchup only.

To answer the question: No, most people don't mix mayonnaise with ketchup. ;)

Marilyn T
Not that common in Hungary, they do love to put ketchup on pizza though.
Back in 78, we were in Budapest and I asked for ketchup. They didn't even know what it was then. The cheif came to our table and asked me how to make it so he cold whip some up for me.It turned out more like a tomato paste and wasn't very good. this is long before the fast food industry took hold there.I do miss the old days...

tartu2222
Here in the Czech Republic, you are charged extra for either Mayo or catsup (in fast food joints), so most people don't use them. Many restaurants also charge you for condiments. But mayo on fries??!!?? It sounds like a crime against humanity to this Jersey boy.

rocker4ever18
I don't think so. I think it's really popular in Greece but other than that I don't really think so.

Astray A
Well in some European countries they wouldn't dream of put ketchup on the table, never mind on food. Some see it as tacky

lol my girlfriend is from Greece and everytime we go to Burger King or any fast food she ALWAYS asks for the extra ketchup and mayo to use as a dip for the fries lol. All her family does it her mother is Yugoslavian. so yeah I guess mostly people from the mediterrenean places do it more ;p

1st Lady09
That is not a good combination and it is very fattening gross

iREP BULGARIA
yes..im from bulgaria and we do that

Joseph P
It's done in many countries. What I do is mix equal parts mayo & ketchup & sprinkling of lime juice & one clove of garlic (chopped very very fine) = perfect salad dressing.

Monster
I've seen it done in the US a lot. Doesn't ketchup + mayo = thousand island dressing?
