In Turkey, do most of you wear makeup? |
I noticed that whenever I go to Turkey, people there aren't as obsessed with makeup as it is here in the U.S. Here you are taught as a young teen to wear foundation, mascara, blush, lipgloss, etc. Is there any specific reason to why it's not such a big deal in Turkey? Additional Details Istanbul- There are people who do wear makeup in Turkey, but it's not an obsession. Back when I was in middle school for example, about 8 out of 10 girls would be wearing some type of makeup on their face. It was always either mascara or foundation. It's silly right? |

Yes we do but for the secondry school students they also put on make up but not in school only in their personal life. Here the students wear uniforms and schools dont allow students to put on make up to school. |

Now that's the beauty of Turkish women. You will notice that they have natural clear skin and a lovely golden tan complexion..so there is no need for foundation. To much make up would be only hiding there natural beauty..light make up like eye liner and lip gloss is most common when wearing make up in Turkey. People say the women of egypt are the most beautiful women to be seen, but i would put the Turkish women before the Egyptians when it comes to beauty .You will have to go to Turkey to see it for yourselves. |

Well, except for really kokoÅŸ women, we use make up lightly and cleverly. I actually hate make up, but when business is concerned, you have to abide by the rules.
Also, some of those modern turban-women use incredible amounts of make up. Talk about the philosophy of covering your head. But hey! A woman is a woman and the most you try to cover her, the most she will want to shine through.
And I hate make up on very young people. I really don't understand, they are already beautiful, why should they want to look something else? It must be some kind of fashion among them, right? |

I do when I am going out or expecting visitors but at home I go natural mostly.
Even when I am going out, I don't like foundation of heavy mascara or bright color lipsticks. I prefer natural tones.
As a Turkish women, I observed that most of us know how to apply good makeup- mostly light and earthy colors.
Living mostly in Kuwait, believe me when I say it but we are natural in our make up preferences. Those ladies there, even the covered ones are using glitter eye shadow while they are going out for shopping!:)
Irmak is right; teenage girls want to look a little feminine and it is ok to have little eye pencil and lip gloss - on their own time-but heavy make up makes them look cheap. In Turkey, it is definitely not a trend to look cheap :)
Another reason I can think of why Turkish woman is not into heavy make up is since we are mostly brunettes, we already have obvious features- dark color eyelashes and eye brows, little natural color on the cheeks and only highlighting them a little is enough for us to get the effect we want. I believe it is a gift, BTW :) |

Geeee, I hate foundation and powder. I never use them as I hate the unnatural feeling they give me.
I started doing make-up (using lipstick in fact - ehem I started uni at 17) when I started university. As I got older, I got used to using eyeliner and eye shadow.
Now, I never go out without eyeliner. It's a must. But l usually forget putting on lipstick and eye shadow is optional. Mascara...I dont' use, as I already have nice eyelashes :P
I think it's not good to start putting on make-up at a young age. Foundation, mascara....I only consider using them when I'm going out on a special occasion, and that's like once or twice a year. So, I can't even imagine using them everyday.
Plussssss, I think foundation and mascara are tricky. Using foundation blocks your pores and with time it ruins your skin...that means you need more foundation to cover the irregularities. Mascara usually makes your lashes fall out...that means you will need more mascara to define your lashes... |

I'm not in Turkey but speaking for myself, I don't wear make-up because of several reasons:
1. It clogs the pores.
2. I don't need it and am not used to it.
3. People say I look so much better and younger without it.
Most importantly:
My honey doesn't like the taste of it. ^_^ |

I wear only eye-pencil and mascara.
Teens (we) want to look beautiful but of corz too much make-up isn't good, it turns the person into a clown.
Also u are right, 8-12 ages are not suitable for make-up. |

In Turkey people have lots of problems unlike you. You know needings pyramide..Unless you feed your urgent needs , you cant go further. Think about GNP in Turkey and USA. You go out for entertainment , we go out for work. So simple , if you are hungry you cant make sex. |
