In your area/neighbourhood, is there a high rate of delinquency and violence? And what does your municipality?

Have you some serious security issues in your area/neighbourhood, such as verbal agressions, physical assaults, robbery, drug dealing, rapes and murders?

We live in very different places, so the situation is certainly not the same everywhere.
How the municipality, the police and the justice administration are dealing with this this problem in your area?

I live in the Eastern part of Thessaloniki, its said to be one of the best part of the city, having almost no crime rates and other criminal incidents

the big problem in thess is in the western part, near the station
its the area that its full of immigrants of all countries, but specially Albania, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria and china
there the crime rates are extremely high and its not a good idea to walk there at night!!!!!

Police is trying to make paroles and put security guards in public buildings but the problem remains, specially through night

I live in Iraq, I have seen many dead bodies in the streets, and guess.

My area has a problem with burglaries. The police are sending extra patrol cars at night under cover and sometimes during my insomnia, I can see them! Our municipality distributes us with leaflets every month, informing us exactly of the crimes and giving us tips. I think they are doing a good job! That is in Japan.

We hire high priced Police Chiefs and apply for Homeland Security Grants to upgrade our weapons arsenal, comminucations systems, stun guns, beany bag launchers, and large police cars.

Then we let them stake out the local Dunkin Doughnuts all night while the Urban Outdoorsman steal all of the copper out of the electrical conduit in office buildings.

When we call the police on our Homeland Security enhanced 911 system, we get a surly broad trained in the antics of a Customer Sevice nuance of delay. At 2:30 in the morning you can call for a unit and they will tell you that all units are busy out "saving lives".

Yeah? Well tell you what sweetheart, you best get your butt over here and SAVE this UO's life, else you will find him strapped to a pole and bound with a live 440volt electric cable.

The cops in this town (Atlanta, GA) are a certified bunch of wusses. They won't come by until they are CERTAIN that they will not confront any boogeymen.

They recently broke into (kicked it DOWN) a 94 year old womens' house and emptied 37 rounds of Homeland Security supplied ammo into her butt (she only got off ONE round from her rusty .38 but in the confusion 3 officers were hit) and they had the BALLS to call it a good shoot. HA. Seems that they SOOO wanted to go into this house that they fudged up a tail of having made a "buy" at the house to get a no knock warrant from a judge.

Yeah, well the states Attorney General had something to say about that. The whole damn narcotics squad was disbanded, replaced by a Homeland Security trained and funded Eagel Boy Scouts. Now they knock and enter offering to sell Girl Scout Cookies.

Yeah! We SURE are different over in THIS part of the world.

Where i live no.But unfortunately Greece became a very dangerous country especially Athens, because of the high rate of deliquency, we usually blame the immigrants..but believe me, the heads of all are the locals...

no, but about 3-4 miles up north west is horrible, people are being shout at 1 pm. A pizza delivery man was shot at 9 pm right before he gets to his customers house. police don't dare to go to that neighborhood. and I guess no one knows what to do.it could be worst after all we could be shot in a mall or university, on the street psycho are everywhere and American still buy weapon on the street and wonder about some terrorist attacks to satisfy the media's fantasy

It is very safe where I live and you probably know why it is safe.:) If a person is caught stealing or drugging serve the harshest punishments and if they manage to get out of prison alive, they are deported immediately.

People are being arrested and deported for consuming alcohol; you do the math :))

Not in my immediate neighborhood. But crime is rampart in Istanbul and the municipality is planting fragile flowers that need lots of water. I guess that tells all.

Edit: Ay C, if you don't know Caddebostan, please don't make comments about Caddebostan. I don't doubt you speak with experience, but we are talking about a 13 million city that could easily pass for a whole country.

no not where i live. thank god.

I live on a military post and my neighbor is the best. I love my neighbors and I feel very comfortable!

You could walk out naked in Istanbul and be safe? Yea, you're right, they'll probably think you're psycho and shun you. But I have been followed by men from the streets to the hotel so many times in Turkey, it's scary. And I wasn't even dressed provocatively. They didn't harm me but imagine my outrage when a guy who couldn't even speak a word of English gestured for me to take him up to my hotel room. Once I stayed at a family run hotel and a female guest told me that the hotel owner's son has tried to enter her room at night.

I think istanbulbogazi lives in an imaginary world.
