Is $2,000 enough to go to Europe?

We plan on going to Paris, Rome and Frankfurt and stay two weeks. Is this enough for Hotels and Eurorails?
Additional Details
I have my airline tickets already. This is for hotels. I will be rooming with two other girls so I mean is $2,000 per person enough. Thanks.

I hate to say it, but realistically, just plain "no". This amount will buy you 1,309 euro--in my experience, this will buy you about the same as $1,309 would buy you here. Even the 2 star hotels will run you 40 euro and up, and the train prices are relatively high as well (Paris to Frankfurt is 146 euro one-way). A Eurail pass for these countries would be a minimum of 232 euro(2nd class student) for 5 trips. Heck, even postcards are 40 euro cents. I lived in Europe from 2002-2007, and believe me, especially with the exchange rate, it's just getting more expensive! (Also, these cities are ULTRA expensive--especially Paris & Rome--expect to often pay 7 euro and more for a glass of wine/beer!)
Good luck, but want to as we do to return, we're waiting until the dollar does better or we get raises!

Grrrr...*serious face* lol

i highly doubt it. you probably at least need 3,000 maybe more.

drummerdje
You will need more than $2,000

No way, Europe's not a group of 3rd world country you know, that works out at about £1000 sterling, to pay for everything for 2 weeks I think you need more.

i think it should. a ticket to germany is about 1200, give or take a hundred or two depending on the airline and place you are flying from and how many stops are in between. that leaves, VERY VERY ROUGHLY, about 800 per person, and you each would be staying in the same room i assume? so that would be more than enough to cover flights and hotels. but rememeber foreign hotels especially near airports are much more expensive than here. and take into consideration the economic difference, too. some countries also charge for the use of their highways. then there's food. souveniours?

no. the flight it's self is about 1,600.

It depends on your starting point. I checked on the prices of such trips by typing in European vacations. I went into the web-site listed below and found some of the cheapest prices.
You will have to click in and type in your current place and then your first destination. Then type in that and your second destination and then do the same with that and your third destination and you should get the prices.
The trips that I found on that sight were priced at around $1000 or so. You might want to save a little more so that you have enough for all three flights if necessary and some spending money in case you decide to purchase souvenirs.

As a rule one person needs at least 50 EUR per day in Western Europe. This is staying in the cheapest hostels (not hotels!) and on camping sites, eating food from the supermarket and limiting your sightseeing.

At the current exchange rate this would work out to 1125 USD per person for the 2 weeks you are planning, plus the cost of flight tickets.

2000 USD for one person without the cost for flight tickets equals 95 EUR per day. This is very comfortable, but you still might have a bit of a problem finding a hotel you can afford. A triple room in a hostel might be the ideal solution for you, especially in Paris.

I strongly suggest you skip Frankfurt and spent more time in Rome and Paris. I can also highly recommend visiting Florence and Venice.

I do not recommend getting a Eurail pass if you manage to get cheap flights from Frankfurt to Rome and from Italy to Paris.

No, I´m sorry you will not come far with that sum of money. As the dollar is so underrated and the euro the opposite, the sum you have is best to save for better days to come.

Just remembered that some eastern European countries like Bulgaria and Romania, even Albania (not a EU country) are still pretty cheap, I know they are beautiful. Why not check the prices over there. Good luck!

When you say "we" how many people are you talking about? Buy your Eurorail Pass before you leave for your trip. It's cheaper that way. You may need to pay supplements on some "night trains" or changes in class of service but you should get specific info before your departure by calling or checking out the web site. Paris, Rome and Frankfurt are pretty darn expensive. But if you stay with friends, or use youth hostels and eat boiled potatoes, maybe you can do it for $2,000 (not including airfare unless you got a super cheap flight) for two people. Use your checking account ATM card for money exchange. Get a Capital One VISA credit card that does not have a currency exchange surcharge like the other credit card companies. American Express for instance will add 2% to all your purchases. Bank of America will add 3%. Call your credit card companies to let them know when you'll be in Europe since a lot of them will refuse charges, thinking someone stole your card. Maybe you should bring a tent and sleeping bags.
