You need to check the restrictions for that particular country, however many will not let you enter if there is less than 6 months left. This is especially true post 9/11.

Nikita
You need to check with the consulate/embassy of the countries you will be visiting. Some countries are funny about people entering their borders if their passports are expiring within 6 months. You'll probably be fine, but I would check just in case.

angel louie
Yes it doesn't expire till the expiry date, as long as you get back before it does!

Oracle
Some countries say 6 months many more say 3 months. A great many also insist you have a valid ticket to leave within that time.

If you got delayed you would have to send your passport off to get it renewed and in the period without one you would be stateless!

Be really safe and renew your passport now.

Just make sure you get back before your passport expire. Incidentally ... Should you wish to travel to the USA check out with the US Embassy as they have either or are going to shortly, refuse entrance to anyone who doesn't hold the new passport (Eye/bar code etc.

postjelitco
i think most require 3 months, but maybe its just for Europens

ee_morningwood
sure if you get back before the 4 months runs out.

don
most places require 6 months for new visas. If it is just a short trip it might be okay to some countries, but many want at least 6 months.

Most countries in the EU require that your passport be valid for 6 months from the date you arrive. You can get an expedited passport renewal, it just costs more. Go to www.state.gov.

PROBABLY NOT. MANY PLACES REQUIRE THAT YOUR PASSPORT BE VALID FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AFTER YOU RETURN HOME.
CHECK WITH YOUR TRAVEL AGENT ON THE SPECIFIC PLACE YOU ARE TRAVELING. GETTING THAT ANSWER ON THE INTERNET CAN STRAND YOU.

only if you are going to a EEC country and return before it expires

Princess
Not sure about your rules but here in Australia, we must have 6 months left on our passport from our planned return date to Australia. So, if we are going on holiday from 10 August - 20 August we would not be permitted to board the plane if our passport was expiring before 20 February 2007.

depends where you are going. many places want you to have 6 months left

roundater
depends on the country you are going to. see below:

Some countries require that your U.S. passport be valid at least 6 months or longer beyond the dates of your trip. If your passport expires before the required validity, you will have to apply for a new one. Please check with the Embassy or nearest Consulate of the country that you plan to visit for their requirements.

check the link below to find the requirements for each country and how to contact them.

undir
Yes, as long as you get back to your country before your passport expires.

clunck30

Depends on the destination you are are going. Check your travel documentation!

Kelly
as long as you fly back before it expires you will be o.k.

oldbuckhorn
yes, not cuba though

?
I don't think so. I know some countries require 6 months to be left on it. Some countries like the Ukraine, Bulgaria, etc. don't require one.
I'd check with whatever countries embassy you are thinking of visiting.
