Is Airplane travel safe?

My parents recently booked a trip overseas, but i only went on a plane once, about 8 years ago, and im scared of going on it again. Should I really be scared, or is it really safe?

the risk and scare factors are always there. but, so as with cars. i suggest you plan your trip well - check weather forecasts and bring your own entertainment gadgets (to take away your worries while airborne just in case you don't like the plane's entertainment system). it is safe to travel by plane, i've done so a hundred times. don't let your fear stop you from seeing the world. it is a beautiful world.

Statistically you are far more likely to die in a car accident than an airplane crash. But more people die in an airplane crash than a car accident so they get more time on the news. Flying is safe, but as with anything in life, things sometimes go wrong.

Joeyboy
Airplanes are more safer than riding a car.

kayneriend
Airplane are safer than any other mean of travelling! Not to be worried.

Enviro-guy
It is perfectly safe, as long as you don't crash.

If it wasn't safe nobody would do it. It's very uncommon to get killed in an airplane. It's more likely you will be involved in a car accident! Go ahead and enjoy your trip!

Rocky Raccoon
Consider all of the car accidents and bridges falling down and all of the expenses of traveling:
meals
hotels
gas
and the time you lose because it takes so long in a car,
and the exhaustion from all of the driving

YES it is safe and you should definitely feel safer in a plane these days with all of the TSA checks at the airport.

It is safe. Dont worry about it, once you go on , you'll love being so high up. It feels great once the plane goes up. And if your still scared , get your mind off things and say to yourself , that if you go on this one flight than you could afterwards get your great vacation. If your scared and will chicken out , than you cant go on your vacation. So i think its all worth going on a plane, once you get started on your vacation.

Airplanes always fall,

They might have a chance if u go on it

that is why there are 100's of flights from each airport everyday

Statistics say that it is safe, but it is fine to be scared. Lots of people are afraid of flying and do it anyways.

Everyone says that statistics show you are more likely to get in a car wreck than in an airplane crash. But, if you actually take into consideration the amount of time spent in a plane vs. the amount of time spend in a car then do a ratio comparison planes are much more dangerous.

Plus, more people survive car crashes then plane crashes.

And, I don't see teriorist hijacking too many cars
