Sorry, this is basic knowledge from elementary school!

The name Europe comes from the Greek word Europa, and this was the name of a woman from the Greek mythology. She was fooled away from her parents by the god Zeus, who disguised himself as a beautiful white bull.

Greece is the country, where the entire modern culture of Europe (and later the US) started. All the subjects they teach in schools have they origins in Greece and Greek language and Greek traditions: philosophy, mathematics, philology, astronomy, medicine, literature...

Besides, Greece is of course also a member of the EU (European Union).

So, is the educational level in the US already THIS bad? I cannot believe it...

Yes. Europe comes from the Greek lexicon, used as far back as in ancient times when Greeks described the land they lived in. European civilizations started using the term too in later times but its place of origin both geographically and terminology is in Greece.

Greece is in Europe. In the South East of Europe and it's the "bridge" of Asia and Europe. This country,entered in the European Union 1st January 1981, combines both Eastern and Western elements.
