Is Pork eaten in Turkey?

Just some curiousity about the secular state of Turkey. I know the Turks have been pretty liberal about many things. They drink a lot but how about Pork, is that eaten over there. Please no offence to my Turkish brothers. I think it is a great country. Just wondering.

We are a Muslim country therefore most Turks do not eat pork but if you are someone like me who does not care and likes to eat pork it is possible to purchase and eat pork. It is not illegal to eat pork but most Turks don't

Dear Ayaz,
Turkiye is a Muslim Country (%96). So that, in our Religion, we do not eat pork meat.
But if you want it, you can buy it. Just only Turk and Muslim People do not eat port meat.
For example, Jewish or Christian who lives in Turkiye can buy and eat it.
Because we are Secular Country.

Kind Regards,
Tanju

No we dont eat pork. Because
Kuran says only ''If you cant find any thing to eat you can eat pork . But other ways dont eat pork''.
For my opinion it' a good advice. Coes pork meat has more fat than the other meats.

I am (socio-culturally) Muslim and Turkish.

I enjoy pork.. Especially when grilled.

YES, you can find & buy & eat pork in Turkey (though not available everywhere)

Some grossmarkets like Carrefour, and many chartcuteries in chic districts SERVE & SELL pork. Not many but a considerable amount of Turkish & Muslim customers DO REALLY CONSUME pork.

Anybody saying differently is LYING!

P.S. Even frog legs and snails are available in French supermarket Carrefour in Istanbul.

There are many muslims living in Turkey, and they certainly don't eat pork. If it's a secular country then they allow those who wish to eat pork their choice.

Moslems do not eat pork so most in Turkey would not eat it.

I am a muslim Turk, I eat pork and really enjoy it. Especially pork sausages hmmm.

But most the Turkish people do not prefer it.

dickn2000
YES!! And vice versa!!

if there muslin they dont but if there not they can :)

theminimastermind
Why would you ask that? pork can be eaten all over the world. The Turkish muslims might not eat meat. But if people want to they can. It all depends on the person and if they want to eat pork.

Hasan
I am a Muslim Turk and I love to eat pork especially salami and sausages.

peskylisa
I don't think so. Pork is considered forbidden in most predominantly Moslem countries.
