Is Russia part of Asia or Europe?

Geographically it's part of both continents with most of the land mass being on the Asian continent. Asia wouldn't be the largest continent if all of Russia was part of Europe. Politically and culturally, however, it seems to be more European than Asian.

On a side note, I'm from Asia as well and have read articles and books on how Russia is a part of both.

Both. Though most of the land area of russia is in asia, as the capital moscow is located in europe, russia has been a european political player.

And going by the definition of the continent of europe extending uptil ural mountains, which is inside russia, russia is spread across both asia and europe.

The Invisible Man has it spot-on but it's true that if you ask Russians who live east of the Urals what continent the live on, they would never admit to living in Asia.

but the capital of Russia Moscow is in Europe
Northern Asia (that part west of the Urals is included with Europe), bordering the Arctic Ocean, between Europe and the North Pacific Ocean

Russia is russia it doesnt want to be known as part of anything else but in reality it is part of europe definatley not asian .Ask any russian are they european the answer will be no we are the ussr. Russian.
