Is Turkey a good/nice place?

im so scared about going on holiday this year to Turkey. I really don't want to go and so convinced that the plane flight there will crash, its causing really bad anxiety! i really hate flying, what if there are terrorist attacks? what are chances? and all the locals look like perverts.

The first time my family decided to go to Turkey, I admit I was also wary about the country, really just based on speculation from my friends about how it was a "dirty" country with "sleazy" men and "prude" women.

Really?
It was the best holiday I've ever been on, and now I'm a total convert. I love it so so so much, and I go at least twice a year now. I keep in touch with all the friends I made in Turkey (all of them Turkish) and they really are the nicest people in the world.

The people of Turkey really are world class, there's no other country as hospitable and friendly as Turkey is :) The locals will make every effort to make your stay enjoyable, and the weather, food and sights are equally as fantastic. I'm going in June this year and I'm literally counting down the days till I go :)

Also, according to statistics, it's safer to fly than ride a car, train, bus or ferry, so you're safe.

And I highly doubt a plane going to Turkey will be attacked by terrorists, It's more likely a plane going to the US or UK will be attacked.. lucky for us haha :|!

Once you've been to Turkey, I hope you will apologise in the Turkey section for calling the locals perverts!

GREEK CIGAR
I think you need some therapy from a psychiatrist before your holidays. A friendly advice.

You sound very nice... Turkey is a very nice place, most if not all mediterranean countries (especially greece, serbia and turkey) are nice, there won't be any terrorist attacks... the chance of one happening is smaller than the chance of you winning the lottery and getting shocked by thunder/lightning (dont know which one shocks you) at the same time...

tiny...

And the locals arent perverts, unless you're staying in a bad bad bad poor poor poor area

Escape Reality
You know what sweetie - don't go

First of all, your fellow passengers will do better without a whingy panicing over-pampered princess onboard

Second, if you hate flying then don't fly - simple as that

Thirdly, I assume you are from the UK and actually there is a greater chance of a terrorist attack in the UK than elsewhere in Europe

Fourthly, if you have never been to Turkey, then how do you know that "the locals look like perverts"

Fifthly, strange company you keep if you are an expert on what a pervert looks like

I think Turkey will manage quiet nicely without your form of tourism.

Just stay at home in front of your pc, and don't forget to keep reading those fairy stories. They are obviously doing a good job.

Whether or not the locals hassle you depends on how you dress. Dress like a tart, you'll be treated like one. Dress modestly, and you will be treated with courtesy and respect.

Millions travel to Turkey on holiday every year, I can't think of a plane crash recently in that part of the world .... there may have been, but none comes to mind. Terrorist attacks? I would imagine the Turkish authorities and citizens are also keen to prevent such an attack, so would be working along those lines too.

My mates all go there and love it. I'm going for the first time in October. Olu Deniz looks great!

I've been in Turkey-Constantinople and i was really impressed because they were so friendly(The Turks). So don't worry, and enjoy your visit there

DanyBoy
1)Turkey does not have a Islamist Terrorist Problem and not one single plane has been taken over by terrorist in Turkish history you wan't to be affraid of Terorest go on a USA plane they you amy be worryed since there the target not turkey.

2)All turks look like pervers well that is stuped turkey has the 3 lovers rape rate in europe (after sweden and norway I belive) so wht you are doing is steriotyping

3)If your so scared why you coming to Turkey the changes of anytihng happening to you that would not happen in Europe is ZERO so grow up and read a book (if you can read)

Pink Atom
I am Turkish :)
No-one is perved, I am 12 and I was allowed outside with my friends on my bike untill like 12oclock @ night, un superviesd, (that was summer holidays) no my family is not an uncaring one, because we moved countries especially for my education. People are always friendly, all people who know eachother are like family, if you see someone you know you end up talking with them for hours (well not literally)
If you see like a really cute kid come into a candy shop the shop owner gives them free sweets!
And when I went into my fave. Turkish delight shop I was given free Turkish delight to try!

<3 aaah <3
Brings back my best memories...

Being on a plane is a thousand times safer than being in a car! There is more of a chance of something happening when you are in a car than on a plane, and I bet you are willing to jump into a car without any worries.

Turkey is a great place, I don't think I have met nicer people than the Turks! They may be a bit flirtatious, especially if you dress like a tart, but a firm NO is all they need, and they know not to go any further, and after that they are like your best friend

One of the main reasons I go back to Turkey every year is because of how safe, and at home I feel there.

To be honest, I think Turkey would be better off without you. I've been to Turkey loads of times, and on a plane hundreds of times (literally) and I'm still alive... I've also been to many different countries, and Turkey is by far the best place, with the best people. Please don't go there and spoil it for me and the rest of the people who go there...

Im part Turkish and Turkey is a nice place.

ya there are some peverted men. but its even worse in europe. have you ever been to italy? jesus christ. its ridiculous. plus how can people look live pervs? give them a chance before you judge you. turkish people are very hospitable and peacefull.

Anyways dont worry about terrorists. the real terrorists are in America.

Go to Kas. its so beautiful and safe. Great bars by the ocean and people from all over the world

Gree
Why are you going there if you dont want to?
Turkey is great tho

last year 23 million 341 thousand tourists have come to Turkey for holiday.estimated that this year it will increase to 25 million. why are not you one of them ?

the source I wrote at the bottom is Turkish , but you can understand from numbers:)

welshchick
I have been to Turkey a number of times, the best place being Side. I must say I have never had a problem with the Turkish men and was really worried as I was told they go for blonde slim women, but I never had a problem, they did joke and ask my husband how many camels he wanted for me but never anything crude. You will have a lovely time I am sure the Turkish are very friendly people.

eda
hi!i can say that you should be relax.especially when you're in the south of turkey, you shouldn't be worry about tourist attacks.and i can't say all the men are pervert cause i'm a woman and yes i'm a little bit bored of them but if you don't talk or look to them, they just can say something to you.that's all.they don't do anything if you don't say them anything.shortly just ignore them.and finally actually it was really bad situation i can understand that.but you know it doesn't become always:)hope i could help you.

Emmy Award Winner - Best Investigative Documentary

'The main focus of is a young man, whose wife of a year, was sold to a vicious Turkish pimp by an acquaintance. The man tracks her to Turkey and tries to recover her.
His journey is almost unwatchably tense.'
'The film focuses on a Ukrainian man on a mission to find his pregnant (and you dont need to guess a lot to know what happened to that, bit of a liability to a pimp), trafficked wife in Turkey. Hidden cameras follow Viorel as he travels to Turkey; his only lead the telephone number of the pimp who, he believes, has Katia in his possession.'
