Geographical yes,publicly no. |

No, Turkey is not an EU country, but is has applied for membership. Presently the negotiations are stuck, because of the unresolved problem with Cyprus. Naturally, the EU can not and should not accept countries into the Union with unresolved issues between themselves. One of the prerequisites for safety and security in the EU is an ability to resolve issues in a positive and peaceful way thorough discussion.
It would be good if Turkey becomes a member of the EU one day - if of course the country answers the EU criteria for human rights, legislation, etc. Right now obviously this is not the case.
A strong economy is not the most important thing. |

Dear Trinav,
I did not understand, why these my friends are so much thinking pessimistic.
We are not join to EU tommorrow. It is a time duration. Maybe 10 maybe 15 years later, I believe join to EU. Thinking affirmative, I mean I am saying for my Turkish Collegues.
Of course, some of my foreign friends says not to accept for EU. Thinking Bulgaria, Romania at one time they are communist system of government. Now they are member of the union. Is this right ?
What is the our excuse or have we got ant problem ?
If you want, you can answer me ?
King Regards,
Tanju

Dear Leonarda, my beatifull friend,
Why do you tell me about religion ?
You are Christian, we are Muslim. So what is the problem ? In a result we are humon. What is the meaning of the humanity ? Do you know it ?
What do you know about Muslim ? Do you know, there are lots of Church in Istanbul ?
We did not say anything about for Christianity Did you hear something from me or other Turkish friends ? You can tell or asking me .
Regards and to say my Greetings your Country,

No we are not, and i don't care to enter EU. Because of we are not Europenean. |

Turkey is officially a candidate country for EU. And there's no need to discuss if Turkey is in Europe or it should be in EU. It's politics and politicians who are taking care of it. And EU is not a cultural night club everyone knows. Politics has no religion either. |

I am glad that we are not a member of EU and hope we wont, coz think about this, too many ignorant ppl and us, how can we stand that? nerve wrecking, heartbreaking plus humiliating, dont you guys think so?.
I will say a big prayer not to become the EU member until these damn ignorants learn something about civilization and widen their damn narrow minds. Have no faith tho.
Anyways, will do my best and keep the faith about these ignorants to learn something about manners, until then keep away from EU:
Regards.... |

Why?
because...
there are lots of abuse of human rights(as someone said above)
of unemployment
Turkish society have not been asimilated as much as they want, yet.
if Turkey enters EU, suddenly may become second (or third) powerful citizen after Germany[because the number of delegations in EU are propotional with the population of the country]
...but they will accept Turkey
because...
Turkey still has a gigantic geostrategical & geopolitical importance on the world.
of lots of task force
of young population
the EU are based on "UNITY of DIVERSITY Principle" (very controversial: they always claim that)
I also would like to say something for Spartan:
please be more respectful while you are blaming a whole nation: a government, 70000000 people and a huge culture. Being proud of genocides??? I suggest you to search more read more and learn more instead of having huge claims without having informaition. Huge claims belong to little men...
look what Ataturk (I hope you know who is Ataturk)says about the soldiers killed in Gallipoli (while attemping to invade Anatolia):
"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours. ... You, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well."
... and now, you see how much we are proud of killing people, eh? |

no it isnt... thats y its still cheap to holiday there..
there are talks of turkey joining the EU but it wont be happening for a long time yet...
they were initially banned for human rights abuse along with some other things.... so they have to sort that out first which isnt going to be a quick job.
it means tturks still cant travel to the uk or the us and other places without first being granted visas which is a long and difficult and expensive process.
my fiance is turkish bbut im going to live there to avoid hassle |

Never... to much human rights abuse.... |
|

|
IT isn't ...and THEY should WORK a lot for BECOMING one...infact SHOULD leave their old fashoned CONCEPTIONS in the PAST and become CIVILIZED, TOLERANT..if u know what i mean....The EU will not accept INTOLERANT people among THEM |
|

HOTTürk
|
No, we r not in the EU. And I want Türkiye to join to the South EU 20 years later!!!
I mean there will be;
North EU(Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway),
South EU(Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal),
West EU(GB, France, Netherlands, Belgium)
East EU(Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria)
in 20 years time.
So, South EU will be for us!!!
Or we may call it MCU (Mediterranean Countries Union)!!!
:))))) |

This is 1000 question on this subject. I don't see Turkey as european country, not even geographically, not even spiritually, not in any way, cause it's in Asia. |

No, they have applied for entry but their disgraceful human rights record is holding things up,there is some doubt about their "fitness" for membership. If the U.K. resigned then they could have our place, that would be the best thing all round! |
