well my dear friends, my greetings from Istanbul or Constantinople if you want. I don't give a **** what it's called really.
it looks a bit shallow that you think you know what Europe is all about. as if Greece's culture is very similar to let's say Finland's.
and i find it even more pathetic that you don't refrain from sharing your very "precious" ideas about topics you have no idea about. I wonder for example how many of you have actually been to turkey. soldiers of prejudices eh?
anyway, obviously the world will not have peace with people like you - regardless from the country they are from, be it from Greece or turkey.
so, I'm off now. I don't want to keep you from your communal mental masturbation. |

Who say that Turkey has nothing to do with Europe just don't know anything about Turkey or anything about Europe.
Turkey is Eurasian, (it has land in EUROPE and in Asia), so it has something to do with both continents, and that's why Turkey's a GREAT NATION, it's very diverse!!!
I have also to say that Europe isn't homogeneus as well. Altough all countries share a lot of things, every country has its own genuine culture. I hate that people always think of Europe as a single nation, we're very plural!!!.
My country -SPAIN- is very European, in fact, more up to date than the average EU countries, but we have our own genuine things (think of flamenco, tapas, sevillanas... what country have them??? no one but Spain). And... yes, altough Morocco is a completely different world (in every sense of the world) there are many influences of it in Spain and from Spain in Morocco, it's just logic, since we're neighbours.
I think it happens with Turkey too. Turkey has Europe and Middle East as its neighbors. I think they should have some influence on Turkey. Just logic.
To greetings_losers: lol :))))))))) |

Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye), known officially as the Republic of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti (help·info)), is a Eurasian country that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula in western Asia and Thrace (Rumelia) in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe.
Turkey borders eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west, Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Azerbaijan (the exclave of Nakhichevan), and Iran to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. The Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus are to the south; the Aegean Sea and Archipelago are to the west; and the Black Sea is to the north. Separating Anatolia and Thrace are the Sea of Marmara and the Turkish Straits (the Bosporus and the Dardanelles), which are commonly reckoned to delineate the border between Asia and Europe, thereby making Turkey transcontinental.
Due to its strategic location astride two continents, Turkey's culture has a unique blend of Eastern and Western tradition. A powerful regional presence in the Eurasian landmass with strong historic, cultural and economic influence in the area between the European Union in the west and Central Asia in the east, Russia in the north and the Middle East in the south, Turkey has come to acquire increasing strategic significance. |

Turkey is a Martian country where 23,3497832% of its lands stretches to the satellite of Jupiter, Io. People living in Turkey are neither Europeans nor Caucasians since they all have blue skin and they grow 2 antennas from their foreheads symmetrically as soon as they reach puberty.
I hope those help to your question. |

Well Istanbul(best&biggest city in Turkey) is in Europe, but it is not yet considered a European country. I was born in Istanbul so I just tell people I am European, but technically not really I am not. |

Turkey is a magic place that claims it is both a part of Asia and Europe. There are other places like this, like Suez in Egypt, and The Ural Mountains (Russia).
If you really wanted to get technical, only the part northwest of Istanbul is Europe, IMO. But, since those cute Turkish girls invented bellydancing, the rest of the world lets Turkey say they're from either Europe or Asia... :-) |

I don't want to disappoint you my friend, but Turkey is more European than some EU member states or some other candidates.
Have you ever been there?

Turkey has absolutely nothing to do with Europe - neither geography nor culture/ religion/ traditons make it anything at all like the rest of EU. |

Totally Blunt

OK. Then the first thing EU must do is to throw Cyprus out! It stands right in the middle of Turkey. |

turkey ISNT europian and asian country,is JUST asian, the european limits are in constantinople. So that makes the country asian,as just a lil part of it is IN europe. They souldnt join EU,not coz of their religion(as many ppl say,i think its bullshit).but just coz of their non democratic culture. |

Turkey does not belong to Europe, either geographically or culturally. I know that some will say: blah blah Cyprus is close to Turkey so it's also Asian...No, Cyprus is a Mediterranean island, and med islands are European. Turkey is a huge country and its biggest part belongs to the East. |

Gambit-Xen

Is BOTH European n Asian at the same time !!!
But I think they should not since it's NOT completely a 100% European. |

I agree with you. Turkey is part of Asia and has no business in EU. |

Turkey has more in common with East Turkestan which is in China than it does with Europe.
Why Turkey doesn't want to be a part of China? Maybe if China was rich it would. |

Myrina

It is not a European country. Most of its land is in Asia. |
