Geographically yes, however it is not part of the European Union. Many people also consider it to be Asian as it has a lot of Asian influences and borders with the continent. |

A small section in the west of the country is considered geographically to be in Europe and the remaining part is in Asia. |

Turkey is in both Europe and Asia. If you look closely at a map, you will see that Istanbul is on both sides of the Bosphoros - One side Europe, the other side Asia. |

Part of Turkey is politically, but the lands that are part of Europe were captured at the time of the ottoman empire so... culturally no (more central asian and Mediterranean genetic wise too), but yes here look at this map http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:LocationTurkey2.png everything west of the Bosporus which is the river that splits Istanbul into Europe and Asia minor is Europe |

The injustice of the turks (ottomans) slaughtering and conquering constantinople lead to them claiming rights to istanbul and the penisula that sits in europe, including the conversion of churches to mosques (the blue mosque used to be a church) They are not europeans and nor will they ever be. Why do the muslims never mention the barbarous turks and their slaughter of europe. |
