As a foreigner living in Turkey I deffinatly would have to say that Turkey is a safe country.
With the exception of southeastern cities.
Those attacks are VERY rare.
Since those areas are by the border or Iraq, Iran, and Syria.
Turkey, as a gov't, does alot to keep the country safe. Places over in the west are even more safe.
Especially with over 25 million visitors.
And just like any other place in the world there are is going to be crime, especially in cities as big as istanbul (17 mill) and izmir (4½ mill).
But the police force in Turkey is very good. You just need to watch out, like ANYWHERE else in the world, at night. |

I go every year about 3, 4 times..Nothing happened to me..Terrorism there is everywhere.
It is true that there are som eproblems with kurdish..and last year I cancelled my travel to marmaris..
But just think:What happened inLondon also?In Madrid?
the bad may happen everywhere...
Maybe it is better to avoid some places with political tension such as south easterb anatolia...But in the western part there is so much police...
Just try not to be so much in croweded places...but generally...i dont htink there is any problem |

It is as safe as most places in Europe. All reasonable precautions stand.
Be extra careful if you are traveling in East or South-East Turkey. |
