I'm pretty sure you will have a good time in Greece. Us Greeks are friendly peopleIf your really afraid of that Pkk camp that you heard about then just go to Crete. The Cretans are kind peoples and we have hospitality. I wish you the best =]

1.No Athens is not dangerous ( I live there and its tottaly ok)
2.Greeks neither like or dislike Turks. You can find every behaviour. You can find people who love them and others who hate them.In fact , they have more important things to deal with those times...

As for the camp, vergina gave you a great answer ~LOL

Don't worry, there is only a camp in the middle of Syntagma square with the tents up and all.
Every morning, the "campers" come out, have a Turkish coffee, sing "aman, mana mou" and they go inside the tent where they are available for photos and other memorabilia (on sale for $1.99 among other Greek souvenirs).

Well, a "serious" questions deserves a serious answer, don't you think?
Edit:Among all this fun someone had to mention the gas chambers and ruin it all.Maybe there are some neo Nazis among us after all, so they are the ones who are camping in Syntagma, sing and have their photos taken by tourists, who knows?

No, it's not dangerous, honestly.
About the second part of your question, see how many other answers there are about it, boring...there's a peculiar love and hate situation.
