Depends of course what you call the "greatest".
If you take to number of people living there:
Paris, France - 9,638,000
Istanbul, Turkey - 9,413,000
Moscow, Russian Fed. - 9,299,000
London, United Kingdom - 7,640,000
St. Petersburg, Russian Fed. - 5,132,000
Milan, Italy - 4,251,000
Madrid, Spain - 4,072,000
Frankfurt, Germany - 3,700,000
Katowice, Poland - 3,488,000
Berlin, Germany - 3,337,000
Dusseldorf, Germany - 3,251,000
Ankara, Turkey - 3,190,000
Athene, Greece - 3,103,000
Koln, Germany - 3.067,000
...
Budapest: 1,695,000
If you mean the city with the most economical and financial influence, surely at least London and Moscow are much more important. In the area around Hungary I think Prague is more important.
Political: London, Paris, Moscow, Brussels,...
If you mean historical: it is important, but that's the same for Saint Petersburg, Berlin,...
On art and culture: Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Saint-Petersburg, London,...
Touristic: London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Brussels, Amsterdam, Bruge, Prague, Milan, Venice, Wien,...
So I think you can't say in any way that Budapest is the "greatest" of Europe... |
