It is part of Spain so yes its in the EU. But, funny enough, the customs duty re bringing spirits and cigs back from any of the Canary Islands don't apply. Its as if the Canary Islands including Gran Canaria are not in the EU.

yes, all the canary islands are, i went to lanzarote in february and only had 4 months left on my passport but it was ok because the island is in the eu therefore as long as i travelled back to the uk before my passport run out date everything would be ok.
