well something came to my mind with this question: Ä°n Turkey it supposed that millitary is secularist and totally againts religious people (specially muslims) but when it comes to dye for Turkey (as a millitar or while doing your millitar service) the person is called "shehid" wich accordint to Ä°slam is a person who die for the cause of Allah...so i still dont understand this posittion so are you dying for Turkey or for Allah?....good way of using religion to keep turkish men doing militar service with out any complain and specially from their families if the guy die as during its millitary service and be called "shehid".. note: i dont care if you guys give me a lot of tumbs but this is true i am not saying anything wich is not known or made up. sometimes is hard to accept the reallity.

its not acceptable to die for any1 as suicide is completely forbidden in islam.........allah has given u life allah will take it away...let him do his job........

I assume you are Turkish and a Muslim. Could you tell me where it says one should die for a country or for a religion? Personally, I wouldn't want to die for either, unless of course my country is attacked by some outside force and I have to defend it. Even then, I would do my best to find a peaceful solution, so no one dies.
Religions exist to show a better, more humane way of living for all people. Killing or dieing for a a religion sounds irrational and against the philosophy of all religions.
I should say, live for your country.

if you are cristian(like me) it is against of our religion to die from your country and especially from your religion inted to die other people(terorist) like muslims. generally i think that it is stupid to die one people for him country. i think that it is better to live!!!!

What is the intention of comparing a nation and a religion? If you choose to die for your nation, isn't it unreasonable? Because, you do not choose your race; you are born in that nation. I think, I would not die for something that I haven't chosen myself. Muslims may choose to die for Allah.

You are assuming that Allah does not equal Turkiye in your question, but to some people around here that assumption is not well-founded.

Serious answer: I don't see immediately how my death would be useful to either Turkiye or Allah. But, in many ways (though not perfectly) I try to make my life useful to both.

More seriously: I don't feel that thinking about "what you'd die for" is a very healthy mode of thought. And, frankly, I think that it is easier to "die for" something than it is to truly live for it. A person who *dies for* something in completeness has not planned that death but rather "takes the chance", hoping till the end that he/she will live (e.g. a starvation protest or soldier in battle in contrast to a suicide bomber who knows he's gonna die). Any genuine case of "dying for" something is thus not completely in the person's control. Therefore, I don't really buy into this "dying for" stuff. The only important issue is what you live for, not what you die for.
