That's a tough question to ask and I think it totally depends on the person. Europe and America are so different in many ways, but obviously they're very similar in that they're both westernized parts of the world with access to all the amenities that you're probably used to.

I lived in Spain and I've grown up in the U.S. Plus, I have traveled to over 30 countries. You can't really get a good idea of where is better to live unless you have the experience first-hand. I loved living in Spain. I had a wonderful time and loved the accessiblity of travel to other countries. I also loved the diversity of the cultures from one country to the next. However, I did miss home and when I travel every year, as much fun as I have in other countries in Asia, Europe, South America, etc. I still miss many things about the U.S. Not so much the amenities which are avaiable in Europe, but just my home and my city. I think in the U.S. there is a lot more emphasis on outdoor activities, at least in the area where I live in Seattle. I didn't find that in Spain as much, although in Belgium and Holland, a lot of people enjoy bicycling. I don't know it's kind of hard to explain, they're both very different.

Also, Europe is too general. Each country in Europe is very different, so asking if it is better to live in Europe is a little too broad.

Both the U.S. and Europe have a diversity of people, food, attractions, activities, topography, climate, history etc. You would have to decide for yourself which you like better. Also keep in mind that the Scandinavian countries are VERY expensive, especially Norway. And Eastern Europe is very different from Western Europe, Western Europe is a lot more like the U.S.

Anyway, I guess to wrap it up, I would tell you that you need to experience living in both places and determine which you think is better for you. No one on this thing can tell you. You have to experience it yourself.

Europe! We have history and more of a cultural identity. America's cultural identity is just every other country's all mashed together.
Plus we're more sophisticated ;)
Although... the US is cheaper =(

Really, Alexander? I heard that Moldova was one of the happiest countries in the world, even if they don't have the best living conditions. It's the same with India, the people there are happier than those in the U.S. even though they have so much less. But anyways, I digress... America is amazing, I love this country, it has a governmental system and Constitution that is truly amazing. Not to mention its impressive history, kicking the Brit's butts and all :] However, at the moment America is very troubled. Our governmental system has been taking over by evil and incompetent men and women, the civil liberties our forefathers fought the British for so many years ago are increasingly in jeopardy, and the high standard of living that has been ours for so long- work hard, own a house, get a new car every 7 years, put the kids through college- is starting to be in danger due to our crumbling infrastructure and worsening economy. So I have to say I prefer the United States to live in, but if I had a family right now and I wanted to pick a place that was really the best for them right now, I would pick Europe. However, I'm young and single with no children, so I'm staying here and fighting to restore my country to its former glory.

I always heard about the American Dream stories.. Last year it was my first time in the US and I was REALLY surprised to see lots of things are way better in Europe:

- Roads are better in EU, drivers more experienced (though aggressive)

- Trains and Public transport in the US is old, European trains are fast and modern

- Food is better in EU

- Education is better in EU

- Electricity net in EU is 2008, US electricity net is 1950

- US taxi's old Fords, EU taxi's Mercedes ;-)

Etc...

So sorry, Europe is better!

that's hard to say.....
I have a friend living in Barcelona, he feels a lot of loneliness, the family concept just doesn't exist, he doesn't receive invitations or calls from coworkers or people that seem to be "friends".

in the other hand, I was visiting a french woman here in San Francisco last month and she tolm me: "I'm getting back to France,'m sick of all this!", basically telling me the SAME feelings ofmy friend in Barcelona...

I think it's more about to be an extranger in a country.

I'man extranger and it hurts!

America is better. Gas for your car and utilities for the house are very expensive. The economy is worse especially in Greece where I have been several times over the last 8 years. I heard that the gas in England is $10.00 a gallon. My friend and relatives in Greece complain about utilities and how much it costs. We are not even close to what they pay for things in Europe.

Canuck
Canada(Which is the better part of North America) Because we have more liberties and freedoms then the US and our people are very friendly.
