Is it dangerous for an American to travel to the Ukraine?

To meet single ladies from a site I have been viewing and chatting with a lady.

Follow the same rule of thumb you follow in the U.S.: If the particular place looks dangerous, it probably is; if it looks safe, it probably is. Don't walk into the middle of a Communist party rally and start speaking English. Use your common sense. I lived in Ukraine for a year and never had a single problem as an American. The worst experience I ever had as an American in Ukraine was from a British person in the market who asked me if I was American. I said yes, and he sneered and said, "Well, someone's got to be".

For goodness sake, Eastern Europeans are people like any other. They won't suck your blood or get you slaughtered in a hostel - How xenophobic is it?
Well, don't expect to be treated nicely if you treat them like rubbish or if you consider them uncivilised like one of the guys above. By the way, I have been to Budapest too and it's a beautiful city with lots of history and friendly people. Two girls from Canada who travelled with us went for a night out in the city and they came back to the hotel at 5 a.m. talking how much fun they had had!
But coming back to your question. No matter if you're going to Ukraine, Germany or France, you are going to a foreign country whose language you probably don't know and you're going to meet a stranger. So I advise you to be careful. Try to book a hotel room instead of staying at her place before you get to know her better and don't do silly things like treating her like a thing.
Anyway, good luck!

No not really. You do however need to worry about theft. Keep a close watch over your belongings. When your in crowded areas such as the Metro if you have a backpack make sure you keep it in front of you. You should also not carry your passport on you. If you can leave it in a safe place, do. What you should do is carry a copy of your passport with you.

Other then theft there is really nothing to worry about. Ukrainians for the most part are great people. I think their culture is greatly endearing.

No more danger than any trip abroad... Thousands of foreigners arrive in Kyiv every day. The answerer's tips above are helpful, but if you are not afraid of traveling in general and you hope to find you match, it's going to be a romantic trip for you.:) It would be better if your lady could meet you at the airport.
Have a nice trip!

Depending upon the site it could be safe or not. If the site looks legitimate and the women listed on it don't look like you know, then traveling to Ukraine to meet the woman will probably be safe. You should try finding information on the website or see if anyone else has traveled there to meet a woman from the site. Otherwise, traveling there is safe if you're just going for a vacation or something.
Good luck!

yes of course it is dangerous. you will certainly die. don´t come to eastern europe!

With the world as is i would try and stay away from traveling out of the U.S to see a lady, I have been to Ukraine and it can be perhaps a place where you need to watch your back, and it can be dangerous there for us Americans with all the worlds problems its probably not the safest choice. But then again if you know this lady well, trust her to a point where you aren't worried that you could live and possibly be dumped on the streets in a foreign country and stay above the streets, have you talked all the arrangements over and she knows and has functioned in Ukraine for a while. if so then i don't see why not...

but that is all the info i can offer

It can be. Most people, especially those who have recently seen the movie Hostel, are mistrustful of Eastern Europe. I myself traveled alone to Hungary, which is right next to such civilized countries as Austria, and was thoroughly freaked out (I swear, Budapest is populated entirely by hobos). I swore that that was as third-world as I was ever going to go. Bulgaira is less civilized and much closer to the scary Middle East. Really I would say don't carry large wads of cash on you and don't broadcast the fact that you are American -- once people hear that you are, they assume that you are carrying large wads of cash.
Regardless, Eastern European women are probably the most attractive I have ever seen. Go get 'em.

Stifle
I would recommend being very careful. The popularity of Americans abroad isn't great at the moment, and relations with former Soviet states are shaky.

John
Good luck Ken. Go get some man.

Not dangerous dude it's for some juice get some if you're thirsty.
