Is it morbid to want to visit auschwitz?

Oliver H-J
It depends on your reasons.

If you want to go to take picture or for a "laugh" then yes, it's very morbid.

If you want to go to pay your respects then no, it's not

No, lots of people visit there for different reasons. It's a part of history.

CJ Johnson
Curiosity is not tantamount to being morbid. It's your reasons that make the distinction.

No. People visit to get a feel of how horrific it all was and to learn more about history generally. Nothing wrong with that - loads of people visit it

j.malco
not at all, i want to

DON'T VOTE BNP
No, people need to visit Auschwitz so nothing like that happens again and so people don't forget.

Gemma
I odnt think so as long as its for the right reasons, personally id love to go to inhale culture and see the place with my own eyes, Im a right geek when it comes to history and find being in historical places really inspiring and soul cleansing,
but if your going there for bad purposes then yes it is morbid and wrong

drjredskinsfan
It would be interesting to visit the place just to see it because its a part of history

Not at all. It's a historical site with lots of History behind it. Most people go there to see the site, learn more, and that's what it sounds like you are doing. However, only do so much there as you can handle. Too much can cause stress/mental breakdowns, which is awful for your body. Little steps at a time. So, no, It's not morbid to visit auschwitz, but don't put too much onto yourself that it's overwhelming.

Cans
No. I would too, if I could.

it's me

Not if you are very interested in the Holocaust for reasons based on sadness over the whole thing. I think to truly understand things we need to learn by listening, by reading, and by seeing. The overwhelming feeling you would experience is unimaginable.

Rolyn- yn flîn ddiawledig
A bit, but fascinating too.
