Is it normal in turkey for a man to have several mistresses besides his wife?

I've heard that monogamy doesn't exist in Turkey, at least for the males.

http://www.escapeartist.com/Travel_Mag/Issues/02/Dating_and_Sex_Around_the_World.html

I read this on the site above. If you scroll down to Turkey it says that basically monogamy doesn't exist for turkish males and that the turkish girls basically don't bother asking.

If the guy has a lot of money and doesn't get caught.

But why don't you ask this question in the French section? They are the champions in this discipline.

Totally Blunt
As long as he isnot caught.

You wouldn't want to face the wrath of a Turkish lady. I feel one coming up, take cover!

you really have to go back to primary school to learn English. turkey=animal Turkey=a country

Having mistresses is a French thing. Turkish men don't do that. Do some studying of 20th century history. Learn about M.Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.

Ok, here we go. I am a Mexican-American-Muslim living in Turkey. I came to Turkey (a Muslim country) prepared to speak of Islam with all my dear respected sisters and brothers from other mothers. I was excited! I got here and pretty much found a "Little America" (which is not necessarily a bad thing all together...). I was shocked that so many men didn't go to Jumah, They don't fast for Ramadan, they drink (Turkey has it's own breweries) and they, of course, commit adultery. It is not that Monogamy doesn't exist in Turkey, It's just that men can do as they please because they are the "bread winners" and women accept because they basically have no choice and need someone to take care of them (this doesn't apply to all women). I even had to work with one man that, I assume was trying to impress the Americans, was boasting that all his friends called him "F**ker Boy"!
I hope I have answered your question.

ermenicik
this may be true for a little portion of the Turkish men. I mean little.
The majority would not fit in that picture. That article is only made to get some horny men entertained.

It's not uncommon but I wouldn't say it's normal. One mistress rather than many. Probably less common than a western married man or woman having sex outside the marriage. The other difference being that the Turkish man is conducting a full on relationship with two women, rather than indulging in casual sex with any number.

The wife holds the upper hand, particularly if there are children.
