I've been to Amsterdam several times and have never been offered any drugs. Of course, I wasn't walking around the Red Light District with my mouth hanging open, looking like a typical tourist. It may just be part of the whole Red Light District experience. Just say no and keep walking.
And to the person who asked you why else you would go to Amsterdam? Research before you say stupid things like that. That's like saying there's no reason to visit New York unless you want to get mugged. Child. |

I have been there a few times and was never offered drugs on the street. Go to a coffeeshop if you want some pot. Otherwise you should be fine. |

If you're in the red light district there's no way to avoid it - the guys hang around every bridge in the area (although recently the police have been trying to do something about this) and they'll ask anybody who walks by. They offer hard drugs - you'll hear them mumble 'Coca, XTC' as you walk by. Just ignore them - they're not out to cause trouble, just doing business. Never buy cannabis outside of a coffee shop - there's no good reason why you should. Outside the red light district or a night-club you'll never be offered drugs. |

It's probably impossible to not be offered drugs but if you just ignore anyone wanting to sell them to you they don't bother you. Just walk past them and you'll be OK. There's a lot to see in Amsterdam - Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum both shouldn't be missed. |

Don't look like a tourist. If you play it cool and don't gawk at everything you should have no problem. You may not want to carry a camera. |

I've been 3 times, and never offered drugs on the street. Go inside a coffee shop then you better watch your back... but then again isn't that why you're in the coffee shop? |

Yes, but when I was there someone offered my boyfriend money to buy me! Really. This is not a joke.
If you look conservative, no one will approach you to sell you drugs. As many times as I have traveled to Jamaica, no one approached me, and that is all I hear from others. |

if you are not an imbecil, you should have no problem in amsterdam. Why would you be offended by something like sex, which I remind you everyone does, or drugs, which if you don't try then you don't know what you're missing |

Avoid that area and tell them no. Its not that big of a deal and not hard to tell them that you aren't interested. |

Eh no, there will always people in the red light district trying to sell you something. Just ignore them.
The red light district is not so dangerous as many people try to make you believe though. There is a lot of social control there. If people do hassle you, 'to ignore' is the keyword. |

Yeah, but It all depends on where you go and what time of day. Red Light has a few drug peddlers, but they usually take to themselves from my experience about a year ago. |

I think it's possible. After all, weed is legal there and they have restaurants with extensive menus for you to go to if you want to order a special kind of weed. I'm pretty sure they won't ask you on the street. It's not as under handed as it is here.
As far as other drugs go (ex. heroin, LSD, PCP etc) I'm not sure. |
