Why not? I've been there thrice and not to mention alone. Turkey is wonderful, the people are friendly and accomodating. The food is great plus the people are not as straight-laced as people are led to believe. They don't care what your religion is. Don't worry,and as with other cities in the world, keep a good head on your shoulders. |

Sorry that you´re getting these dumb answers. You´re asking a fair question, but some users are being racist. Too bad.
It is definately safe for you to go to Turkey. Even in Istanbul, I generally feel safe on the streets, even at night.
As in very many countries, there will be some young men hanging around the tourist areas hoping to "catch" a young, attractive tourist. This may be annoying, but as far as SAFETY goes, you should be just fine. I´d go as far as to say it is safer than many other places.
As always, though, use common sense. If you don´t chat with strangers on the street at night at home, don´t do it there either. But if you´ve been thinking the men are out to get all those women coming to visit... as some would have you believe, FORGET IT. Just go and have a nice trip! |

Let me put it this way: My sister is visiting Turkey every year alone, meeting her Turkish friends in Kusandasi, Istambul and other places. She is very beautiful and she has never been harrassed by anybody, on the contrary men are very gentle and respectful to her.... So do not worry, you'll be safe and respected...
P.S. Armenian and Scopian "friends" you can put as many thumbs down as you want to...I don't care... |

All of the Turkish girls I've known (2) have been VERY free spirited, i imagine that more public, well-lighted ares must be safe or they wouldn't have been so reckless. But then, that's
only two girls. For all I know they were the Paris Hiltons of Turkey. |

I'm really bored with these 'is it safe' questions. I mean duah yeah nobody is gonna eat you. Considering millions of tourists coming to Turkey each year; you will be ok and I can guarantee you'll have lots of fun there.

It really depends on which part of Turkey you're gonna visit.As a Turkish person,I would eventually recommend you to buy a holiday package which includes a Turkish tourist guide. |

Very safe!!! The most you'll get is looked at. There are many europeans that go topless on the beaches and the pools and no one bothers them. Plus Turkish girls are very open and modern. If you don't bother anyone, no one will bother you.
