Go for it! Some of the Turkish driving leaves a lot to be desired, but that's true of most Countries.
I would say that most of the main coastal roads are now quite decent, so if you are sticking to the main routes (airport to coast etc) you'll be fine.
Some of the more rural routes can be pretty hair raising, but that's all part of the fun when exploring!
I would recommend that you hire your car through a UK company or at Dalaman Airport (Holiday Autos, Hertz etc), as there could be a possibility that if you hired a car in a seaside resort you might not be insured properly.
Hope you have a great time! |

safer then in india. but thats all.
all taxis and cars drivers think the way is their own and can drive as they want.
the safe lines on the otobans are usually used by "clever" drivers.
drivers dont stop at the walker ways. not even in red light sometime.
be carefull about TRUCKS. they are crazy.
still, i would suggest you to take taxi.
its safer, cause they know "their rules" |

well it is but as always you need to be careful but its not like ordinary traffic in Europe and the United States it can get confusing since there aren't any road lanes.... but if your staying in a village and if you working outside of the city then there should be no problem |

Qu'est ce que tu pense?

It is safe to drive..however if you arriving late I would recommend that you arrange for either a private transfer or take a taxi...it should not be any longer than about 1 hours drive...
The reason I suggest this is you will possibly be tired after your flight and then to try and navigate in the dark would be more stressful. If you drive defensively it is unlikely to be a problem for you.
If you are used for driving in mountainous areas I do not see any problem. The coastal roads have been greatly improved over the past few years..
As for night driving it can conceal some possible hazards.
For instance, all the hazards of children, animals, and vehicles pulling in from the side of the road are magnified when you have trouble seeing them due to darkness. Potholes and speed bumps can more easily catch you by surprise at night.
Once you are there you can rent a car and drive around and visit all the lovely sights..
PS.....why the thumbs down..what did I do...the coastal roads ALL very good.. |

I have lived in Turkey for 5 years and would sooner play with a loaded gun than drive here.I am an advanced driver with 30 years driving in the pole.My friend is a retired Turkish police officer and will not drive here. The road traffic accident stats are the worst in Europe and half the drivers have no insurance .That the truth of the matter. |
