As a European, I take no offence whatsoever at that generalised question! Parts are cold, sleazy and full of drugs. Parts are indeed expensive. Mostly, it's the same as anywhere else in the West and has the same problems to whatever extent.

The impression I get of the USA is that it's power hungry, full of serial killers, perverts, crack/meth users, terrorists, black guys in prison, gang violence and endemic political corruption with areas of third world poverty. Amidst all this the population believes the world was created by God 6000 years ago.

Luckily, I don't trust impressions and know that only aspects of the USA is like this. I don't need anyone to tell me this because it's obviously not likely to be true. Europe is just the same.

What the entrie continent of 47 countries? I "love" how Europe gets talked about as if it was one single place and country.

The north gets a bit cold in the winter, that's what happens when you get to the artic circle.

In the south summer temperatures can be up to 40C which most would consider quite warm.

The baltic countries and some eastern countries have some of the lowest costs of living in the industrialised world. London is one of the most expensive city's in the world but that doesn't mean the entire UK is.

The Netherlands have a certain tolerance towards soft drugs but it is quite unique in that respect. The availability of drugs elsewhere is probably similar to any other industrialised "western" countries.

What a shameful, bigoted remark! I lived in Europe for several years - it was actually cheaper than living in the USA. I found very little "sleaze" and fewer drug problems than in the USA. I suggest your information source is seriously inadequate...

Europe is a very big place.... it has good and bad, hot and cold, rich and poor.

yes it is expensive, most of the continent is cold during the winter but it also gets nice and warm during the summer.... about the drugs, well, yeah i've seen more people doing drugs in Europe than in the states. The difference is that over here they use them more "wisely" like marijuana, they actually do it to stay calm so I don't see anything wrong with it.

Any country you visit is going to have its share of expensive housing, meals, souvenirs, etc.

Depending on the time of year when you visit, it might be cold or it might be hot.

What you view as "sleaze" might not be the same as what others view as sleaze. Some countries approve of nude sunbathing on public beaches. How you view this is a personal thing.

All countries have drugs available. If you are looking for something, you will find it.

Don't judge a country by its television programs and movies. They do not represent the true ambiance of the country.

Um sorry but you are really generalizing here as Europe is not a country but made up of many countries. If a country has a high rate of criminality, you can't say that all of the countries in Europe are the same. Where I live, we got low percentage of criminality which includes drugs/prostitution/robberies and murders. As to expensive it depends from where the tourist comes from. As to coldness, we are more of the warm and sunny climate, and when it's winter it's not that cold either.

i guess it depends on which part of europe you're talking about.
southern europe is rarely cold, never sees snow or anything like that, rain at best and that only in winter, the rest of the time it's really hot.
western europe sees more rain, especially the uk and ireland. central europe has a moderate climate: summer, autumn, spring and winter so it really depends on when you're gonna come visit. the north is obviusly colder, but not much more, especially with global warming and everything.

as for expensive, again, that depends on what your standards are, but you have to understand that most europeans do better economically then people in other parts of the world, except for the us maybe, so it's natural that things are more expensive, because demands are higher and people make more money so they can afford it, but this doesn't necessarily apply to all of europe, only western and central europe, eastern europe isn't expensive at all, it's actually quite cheap compared to western europe. it's the same with drugs, people in eastern europe don't do drugs at all, trust me i know, i live there and i'm a teenager too, they just can't afford them, but western europe is a bit different especially the uk and ireland, that's where most drug consumers live and of course western europe.

Expensive ?no-Its ok..
If dollar/euro rate has change so much it only proves that is expensive from Americans and not for Europeans.
If you compare it with Japan,its pretty cheap ;)

Cold??-hell no!!

I live in Greece and from July till September we had 35-46'C...You can say that is pretty hot and not cold at all.

Sleaze and Drugs?---You better make a tour around the world.Europe will look like paradise ;)
