Is it true that FOB Greek-American males treat their wives "very badly"?

Why do you come to this conclusion?

Half the time they do and half the time they don't. I know this because my man is Greek & I've been with him almost 13 years.

Johny Cee, what does all this list of random facts about Greece has to do with teh question?

I am Greek and I know many Greek people, and a few Greek -Americans. I know that they love their wives and treat them very nicely. However, in all nationalities, there are people who have bad manners or bad attitudes. It all comes down to each person (his level of education, his general attitude, etc.). But definitely Greece is not a place where by culture men beat their wives in large percentages, as happens in many Muslim countries for example.
PS. Don't take the comment about Muslim countries wrong, as an insult to Muslims in general, but we all know that there are some countries with Islamic regimes that a man beating his wife is not even illegal!

Not in a greater or lesser percentage than any other nationalities.

Some have been very ugly. This has happened to one of my relatives who fortunately divorced him quickly.
On the other hand Greeks can be quite the gentlemen. They are just like anyone else, with one exception, they place a great deal of importance on higher level education. Many Greeks believe that when possible a person should attain education at least to the PhD level. A large segment of the university student population will spend any where from 5 to 10 years learning English. Although Greece has a small population, around
12 million or so, they have one of the highest ratios of physicians per capita of any nation. Only Russia and maybe Cuba exceed this ratio.
Greeks are very proud of the fact that in the opening ceremonies of the Olympics the Greek Flag precedes all others, except of course when the games take place in Greece.

Everyone should visit Athens and the Greek Isles as many times as they can during their lives. It is well worth it from both the educational and recreational stand point. The culture is mostly European with a touch of the Middle East to boot.
The beaches are abundant, the night life is nothing short of great, and the people love tourists.

Totally Blunt
"Domestic violence occurs across the world, in various cultures, and affects people across society, irrespective of economic status."

As research shows, abuse isn't limited to under-educated, poor families. I copied above sentence from wikipedia. Domestic abuse is a serious issue, which must be handled without prejudice or attempt to justification. The common misconception in males and females is, if you have not witnessed it, it doesn't happen. Feminists must fight this misconception to help millions of women who rather stay silent than lose face in society. Yes, the abused feels ashamed, not the abuser.

only the ones who are old fashioned and live like it's the 19th century.

this was a common thing for couples married in the sixties and seventies. now the tide is turning and we have many more divorces. in younger couples i can't detect that.

Take it from me , I am a 34 y.o. greek woman. In every household of greek or greek american couples the wife will take all decisions and have it her way no matter what ! Watch "My big greek fat wedding " and through the comedy you will see that.
Of course there are some exceptions but they are definately limited.
I am a middle class person and my friends also of the same backround would agree cause this is what we experience.
