Yes it's true, but you must consider 2 facts:
1. Greece has a different climate than Northern Europe or central Europe. 45 there would feel like 60, because of humidity. In Greece, sure 45 is hot, but it is bearable. Fore example, when we have 30 it is very pleasant, when I met 30 in England it was really boiling!
2. These heatwaves only last about 10 days in total in an entire year. I mean we have 4-5 days of so much heat now, we may have another 4-5 days in a month, and thta's it pretty much. You don't really need to go outside of airconditioned areas within those 10 days. Plus, if you are lucky to have planned holidays in the islands, you will not even realize it. My husband was in the southern Peloponnese these days, and he said he was a bit cold in the evening!
3. The climate is generally very nice in Greece. I am not saying you should or should not move to Greece, I am just saying that the climate is one of the assets of Greece and not the opposite. |

Here there is the sea too, and you have the option...
But dont forget, thqt in the islands it is different, it is more windy...especially the Aegean part... |

Yes Baby sham, I live in kos and it's been just above 40 degrees for the last few days. It is a heatwave though and they say that this is the hottest June since 1916. The heat in July and August is usually in the mid to high 30's though, it is very, very hot. I am almost 6 months pregnant and moving house so I'm really suffering!!! I am a Brit and I have been here for 5 years, but this is the hottest I have ever experienced (they were just waiting for me to be pregnant AND moving and decided to turn the heat right up!!) mainland Greece is hotter than the Dodecanese where I am though. Good luck if you decide to move here, the winters are much cooler, in fact they are quite cold and rainy, just like the UK!!! |

Yes, of course it is true. Fortunately, this is not the usual temperature, until now anyway. And of course it depends on where you want to move, in Athens it is always much warmer than on the islands or in northern Greece. So, for instance, in Athens you can expect an average temperature of 35 degrees in summer. What is annoying is that the high temperatures do not get much better in the evening. |
