Is it true that turkish women aren't allowed to date western men?

My two sisters are both with French men.

And I am also with a non-Turkish person

We date anyone we want, if the individual is someone special.

there's no "blanket Turkish principle"

So the answer is, it depends on the persons upbringing and their family's lifestyle and influences.

What you are asking is not dissimilar to posing the question, "Is it true that american men aren't allowed to cross their legs when sitting?" If your reaction is, "huh?" you're thinking is on the right path.

Woooolfff
Are you kidding! Turkish women date everybody except Turkish men. Especially Black guys!

It's not true.

It is sometimes difficult for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man; however a Muslim man can marry a woman of any faith with no difficulty as she is deemed to have accepted his religion.

no, this is bullsh.t..

no it is not true
but there are isolated cases where this happens...

who s allowing who?

Bix
It depends on the woman and her family.

Sometimes not. However, such thing exists all around the world, from east to the west.

Gwen
It depends on many things, particularly what is meant by "date", what is meant by "Western", who is the Turkish woman in question, and who is the Western man in question.

I say, let's get to the ultimate issue: Everything else held equal (i.e. especially economic situation), it is preferable to the family of a Turkish woman that she eventually marry a Turkish man.

Given that, what do we mean exactly by "date"? Is it "dating" in the traditional sense, for the purpose of eventual marriage -- in which case the above applied? Is it "dating" in the most casual extreme -- in which case it should be noted that "casual sexual relations" are definitely taboo for Turkish women anyway? Or, is it something in between, like a lightly romantic more-than-friendship -- in which case it is probably fine since it is likely temporary and not habitual and just easier to keep on the down-low in general?

Anyway, all that being said, of course the others are also right in the sense that these are not matters of strict "allowance" -- it's perfectly legal for the girl to date whom she pleases. But, in all fairness, it should definitely be expressed that her family will very often strongly prefer for her to marry -- and thus also date -- Turkish men. The rest depends on how much importance she places on her parents' opinions, as well as when her parents learn to just accept whom she chooses to be with (which could occur as late as when their cute grandkids pop out).

Finally, the preference of parents of culture X preferring their daughter to marry within culture X is absolutely not unique to Turkish parents. E.g. I observe the same phenomenon for my Indian friends as well. In fact, I suppose that in most Eastern cultures this phenomena of preferring the child's spouse to be of the same culture exists, and perhaps this is the source of your original question. I would guess that the underlying reason for this difference is that most Western "cultures" appear to be "just some amalgam of people and modern stuff" and thus require nothing in particular to be "preserved".
